Peoria had the night off. A sleepy night offensively but the clear star of the day's games was Boone Whiting.
- Kolten Wong was 2-for-4.
- Oscar Taveras was 1-for-4 with a double.
- Brock Peterson was 2-for-4 with a double.
- Greg Garcia was 2-for-3 with a double.
- Nick Additon struck out an impressive 8 through 6 innings. He allowed 4 hits but was stung by 2 solo home runs.
- Marc Rzepczynski and Mitchell Boggs both pitched a scoreless inning allowing a hit. Boggs walked 1 batter.
- Victor Marte struck out 2 in a perfect 9th inning.
- Xavier Scruggs was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.
- Jake Lemmerman was the only other player to reach base twice for Springfield with a single and a walk in 3 at bats.
- Boone Whiting stole the show with 7 shutout innings. He allowed just 4 hits and struck out 7. Whiting's not going to light any radar guns up with a 90 mph fastball but his changeup is a clear plus pitch. He's fooling batters at AA with 34 strikeouts in 30 innings against just 7 walks. Overall, it's a nice start to the season for someone who lost most of 2012 to injury.
- Kevin Siegrist pitched the 8th allowing 1 hit and 2 strikeouts.
- Michael Blazek had the 9th with a hit a walk and a strikeout.
- Stephen Piscotty was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
- Jonathan Rodriguez was 2-for-4.
- Ronny Gil was 2-for-3.
- Tim Cooney struck out 6 in 7 innings of pitching. He allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits.
- Lee Stoppelman allowed 1 unearned run on 2 hits in 2 innings of work.
