A daily recap of the minor league happenings in the Cardinals farm system.
Just a reminder - the stats are courtesy of the Cardinals coaching staff and front office. Any editorializing is the author's.
A rather subdued day on the farm. David Medina makes a splash and Tyrell Jenkins sees some action.
Memphis 6, New Orleans 7
- Scott McGregor pitched 2 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits. He struck out 2.
- Deryk Hooker walked 3 in 2 innings of work but escaped unscathed.
- Heath Wyatt was tagged for 4 runs on a grand slam in his inning of work. He struck out 1.
- Tommy Pham -- who is still in the organization -- walked and scored a run.
- Jermain Curtis had two hits and a walk.
- Starlin Rodriguez doubled.
Springfield 12, Jacksonville 7
- Seth Blair pitched 2 innings with 1 hit and struck out 3. It's rather self-evident but the walk rate will be the leading indicator of Blair's potential this year.
- Ryan Sherriff allowed 3 unearned runs on 3 hits in 2 innings pitched. He struck out 1.
- Willy Paulino struck out 3 in an inning of work allowing 1 hit and 1 walk.
- Adam Melker was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
- Patrick Wisdom was 1-for-1 with a walk. Wisdom played last season at Batavia after being drafted. Quad Cities would be the logical next step but it would be interesting to see him jump to Palm Beach.
- James Ramsey was 1-for-3 and provided excellent leadership.
- David Medina had himself a day. The first baseman hit 2 home runs and went 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs.
- Michael Swinson was 3-for-4 with a walk.
- Nick Longmire walked and had a solo home run.
- Tyler Rahmatulla walked twice.
Palm Beach 3, Jupiter 0
