the cardinals flopped in their game against the reds today, with the dodgers' elimination number down to one.
late this evening/early this morning, the giants closed out a game against the dodgers, 4-3. despite some late run scoring in a suspenseful game, the giants were a trolley los angeles couldn't dodge.
the cardinals have put on a pretty good season, probably underperforming their overall ability. they've won 87 games so far, although i think they easily had the capacity to win 90+.
the only upshot of clinching this way is that nobody's going to tear a ligament in the celebratory onfield pile-on.
