Dear Major League Umpires,
According to baseballsavant.com, Matt Carpenter has had a called strike on a 2 strike count 18 times this season.
Thirteen of those times, it was a ball.
So, if you are a major league umpire and you are reading this, please understand that we all know that you are (with a few exceptions) very, very good at what you do.
However . . .
Should Matt Carpenter be batting . . .
And should he have two strikes . . .
And should he decline to swing at a pitch that you believe to be a strike . . .
For every time that you correctly call that pitch a strike, you are going to incorrectly call that pitch a strike 2.6 times.
Good luck with your umpiring.
