A few positive notes to start the post:
- Allen Craig, Jhonny Peralta, and Kolten Wong are starting to settle in..
- The return of Jaime Garcia and Jason Motte help our pitching staff trememdously..
- We are starting to hit w/ RISP..
But, we are only 5 games over .500, although it is baseball and there is much, much more time for us to get hot, and we could use a jump start. But, where would this kick come from? Here is a couple of transactions that could bode well for our team.
Cardinals trade P Lance Lynn, P Carlos Martinez, and OF Jon Jay to Tampa Bay for LHP David Price. Price is a top-talent arm at only 28 years old. He will be due a nice payday after next season, but we have LHP Marco Gonzales rising fast through the minors if we chose to not retain Price.
This would make a starting rotation of: Wainwright, Price, Wacha, Garcia, and Miller.
The next is a little more daring:
This trade is the most intriguing to me. But, it would also have to make the assumption that Oscar Taveras or Stephen Piscotty could man LF and CF in the not so distant future (in about 2 years time).
What are your thoughts?
