- Tommy Pham (LF): 0-4, K
- Randal Grichuk (CF): 0-4, R
- Stephen Piscotty (RF): 2-4, R, 2B, RBI
- Xavier Scruggs (1B): 3-4, R, 3B, RBI

- Jorge Rondon (RP): 1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 K, 1 HR (Baez, (1))
- Lee Stoppelman (RP): 1.1 IP, 1 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
Notes:
- The Overlord, who was in attendance, really put it best:
Rondon & Stoppelman were terrible today. #VEBAAA
— bgh (@b_g_h) April 6, 2014 - Fun with Small Sample Sizes - Greg Garcia is currently slashing .313/.389/.938 with as many triples as strikeouts. He also has a pair of home runs.
- Oscar Taveras got the day off and Tommy Pham got his first start of the spring in LF.
Corpus Christi 5 Springfield 3
Notables:
- Mike O'Neill (LF): 1-5, R, K
- Aledmys Diaz (DH): 2-5, R, 2B, 2 RBI
- Jonathan Rodriguez (1B): 1-5, 2 K
- David Popkins (RF): 1-3, 2B
- Patrick Wisdom (3B): 1-4, 3 K
- Rafael Ortega (CF): 1-4, 2 K
- Sam Gaviglio (SP): 4 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 3 SO
Notes:
- Gaviglio struggled mightily with his command, surrendering 9 baserunners in just four innings of work. He's really struggled to get on track this spring after his breakout 2013 campaign
- O'Neill picked up his second strikeout on the season, something that took him 16 games to do a year ago.
- Aledmys Diaz turned in a good day at the plate but did not play the field as Matt Williams filled in at SS.
Palm Beach 1 St. Lucie 0
Notables:
- Charlie Tilson (CF): 1-4
- Breyvic Valera (3B): 2-4, R, 2B, CS
- Jacob Wilson (2B): 0-4, K
- Anthony Garcia (DH): 0-3, K
- Cory Jones (SP): 4.1 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 K
- Dixon Llorens (RP): 2 IP, 4 K
Notes:
- Valera continues to impress after a stellar spring training -- hitting .353 on the young season with 2 doubles and 3 stolen bases in his first four games. He was caught stealing for the first time on Sunday.
- Cory Jones allowed just five baserunners on the day, but gave way to Corey Baker in the fifth with two on. Baker got out of the jam and ended up snagging the W.
- Dixon Llorens had an impressive day, striking out 4 of the 6 hitters he faced to earn the 2 inning save.
Peoria 3 Wisconsin 2 (7 innings); Wisconsin 3 Peoria 1 (7 innings)
Notables:
- CJ McElroy (CF): 1-7, R, 2 K
- Mason Katz (2B): 2-7, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 K
- Carson Kelly (C): 2-4, R, K
- Ronald Castillo (RF): 1-6, 2 K
- Kenny Peoples-Walls (LF): 1-6, RBI
- Juan Herrera (SS): 1-3, CS
- Alex Reyes (SP): 5 IP, 3 H, 7 BB, 6 K
Notes:
- I don't know if Alex Reyes hit the mascot or the hot dog guy, but any time you walk six or more hitters while also striking out six or more hitters and not allow a run that should be termed a "Laloosh" in my book. "This guy has got some serious shit" -- yes, future Arliss, yes he does.
- Mason Katz homered in each game today, which means the hex of poor play from Louisiana State alumnus in the Cardinal organization has officially come to an end. Also, I can't shake the feeling that he looks like dickish top prospect Bo Gentry from "Trouble With the Curve"
- Wisconsin ran all over the bases against Carson Kelly and the Peoria pitchers in this series with 6 stolen bases in 8 attempts. It's hard to say who's more at fault for the running game getting a bit out of control, but it certainly seems that teams are going to test Kelly behind the plate until he proves he can throw some runners out.
