Daily Farm Report: Sterling Starts From Gonzales and Petree Provide the Highlights for the Day

Marco Gonzales sturck out 7 batters in 6 innings last night - Rob Carr

Runs were hard to come by for the Cardinals farmhands. The system went 1-3, but strong starts by Marco Gonzales and Nick Petree stood out.

Oklahoma City 8 Memphis 3

Notables:

Notes:

  • Oklahoma City jumped on Scott McGregor early. They ended up scoring a run in each of the first three innings.
  • All three Memphis pitchers allowed a run.
  • Greg Garcia pushed his hitting street to 8 games.
  • Joey Butler's hot start continues, he added another extra base hit and currently leads Memphis in all 3 triple slash categories (.426/.550/.681).
Northwest Arkansas 3 - Springfield 2
Notables:

Notes:

  • Despite collecting 10 hits and 7 walks Springfield was only able to push 2 runs across the plate.
  • Ronnie Shaban surrendered a walkoff homer to Mark Threlkeld in the bottom of the 9th.
  • Pat Wisdom picked up a double, but also whiffed 3 times and was charged with a throwing error. Wisdom now has 21 strikeouts in 17 games on the season.
  • Seth Blair posted a career low 8.4% BB rate last year in AA, but that number has crept back up near 15% this season.

St. Lucie 6 Palm Beach 5 (12 Innings)

Notables:

Notes:

  • Palm Beach came out of the gate swinging. The first 4 Cardinals that came to the plate scored. Unfortunately for Palm Beach they only were only able to push one more run across despite amassing 11 hits and 6 walks in the game.
  • Marco Gonzales made an impressive start fanning 7 and only walking 1 in 6 innings. Gonzales has racked up 19 strikeouts against 4 walks in 17.2 innings on the season.
  • The bullpen was unable to make the lead stand up for Palm Beach. With 2 outs and a 4 run lead in the 9th the Cardinals allowed a St. Lucie rally that tied the game. St. Lucie won the game with a sac fly off of Mitch Harris in the 12th.
