Let's Make Lineups (and wild assumptions!)

If you ever got to take a look at the notepad I take to all my meetings at work, you will see that I have created more Cardinal lineups than TLR ever could, even if he had been on Bath Salts his entire career.

One of the best parts about making a lineup is cherry picking SSS stats from the previous year, YTD or the last 2 weeks and using them as justification. YOU GUYS, DID YOU KNOW THAT MATT CARPENTER HIT 66.7% OF HIS HOMERS FROM THE 7 HOLE LAST YEAR? The other is that you don't have to consider defensive competency and you can put as much weight as you damn well please on things like Clutchitude, GIDP rates (if not for this, Yadi would be batting 2nd for my hypothetical team), alternating L/R, etc.

Here is my topsecret 2013 lineup which would guarantee 105 wins. It assumes no injuries during ST, and also assumes that Matt Carpenter can play 2B at least as good as Skip Schumacher. It also assumes that the club has more to gain by seeing what Carpenter can do with a full time job than they would gain by having him available to spell LF, RF, 3B, 2B and 1B.

1 Jon Jay L/CF (.373 2012 OBP)

2 Allen Craig R/1B (swoon)

3 Carlos Beltran S/RF (only here because he is a switch hitter)

4 Yadier Molina R/C(Neck Tattoos, Leader, .500 2012 SLG and LegoHead K'd too much last year)

5 Matt Holliday R/LF ("He'd be hitting 3rd or 4th for almost any other team" "No doubt about that, Al")

6 Matt Carpenter L/2B (Lefty Righty fetish again, and to avoid the gag reflex from typing Descalso)

7 David Freese R/3B (This guy needs to get another three or so World Series saving hits. He's getting a bit stale)

8 Rafael Furcal S/SS (It's going to be awesome when he doesn't get hurt or suck this year)

Additional Note: I want to pencil in Craig and Taveras into the 3 and 4 slots for the next 7 years.
