Yadi, Adams, MCarp, Freese, Descalso, Kozma, Holliday, SRobinson, Jay, Beltran, Waino, Wacha, Kelly, Lynn, CMart, Rosenthal, Siegrist are solid ins. Plus Craig, that’s 18. Maness, Axford, Choate, Tony Cruz are likely in as well so that’s 22. That leaves Mujica, Miller, Wong, or Chambers.
According to Jenifer Langosch, "John Mozeliak suggested that (the roster breakdown) will remain as it was for the first two rounds of the postseason. If that's the case, the Cards will carry 13 position players and 12 pitchers…The likeliest candidate to lose his spot seems to be second baseman Kolten Wong, who is hitless in five pinch-hit at-bats this month."
Pinch hitters aren’t as needed in DH games, so I can see a position player being replaced – but why not Chambers instead of Wong? Chambers is also 0-5 as a pinch-hitter this month. They are both left handed hitters and both have good speed. Descalso is likely the first player off of the bench, so in an extra innings game it’s more likely the Cards need an IF replacement instead of an OF replacement. Throw in Freese’s potential calf tightness and it’s a no brainer that it’s Chambers that goes in my mind (if not Mujica).
