Well they're only a few days away so who should they be? Unfortunately Memphis isn't loaded with pitching on the 40-man and we don't really need offense...or do we! Catcher Bryan Anderson needs to stay just because Yadi is so banged up. Well let's start with the obvious;
1B Lance Berkman - This is just a given. Bench power and leadership.
LRP Sam Freeman - Deserves a second chance and we need another lefty since Rzep still isn't reliable.
On The Bubble:
C/3B/1B/OF Steven Hill - For the past month he's been wailing on the ball and when Adams went down, he got even better. We could use both his versatility and his hot lumber.
OF Adron Chambers - He did great last September, so why not.
LRP Barret Browning - Has he regained his composure in the short time he's been down. You can never have enough Loogy's in the fall.
RRP Victor Marte - Pitching depth, pure and simple. He pitched well the first two months and Matheny was forced to use him a lot. Did he just wear down or get exposed as an average pitcher? He was the one righty that MM would bring in to face a lefty batter.
Other Options:
Sign LP Erik Bedard for the pen. This is a strikeout pitcher who would be an improvement over Rzep and co.
Sign RRP Juan Cruz - His numbers were pretty good with the Pirates and we need that depth.
TRADE: Hill, Chambers, Colin Walsh and Maikel Cleto to the Blue Jays for Brandon Lyon and Rajai Davis. Providing they pass through waivers. I'd love to have Davis late in games igniting the offense.
