I'm flying back to Illinois from Albany this morning, so please accept this thread as an apology for having not been around to share in our suffering on a game recapped by the mothership's headline editors as "Miscues sting Cardinals on sweltering night."
We're rolling into the All-Star Break and the Cardinals are 44-40. So: Are you sad about it? Is this season a disappointment so far? The injuries are getting to me, but to be honest I'm not especially broken up about how the year's gone, at least at this point. The Cardinals have remained in contention, they've gotten huge seasons from Allen Craig and Carlos Beltran, and we've gotten to see Matt Adams and Joe Kelly. Fine by me, but then after 2007 I'll feel pretty good about anything worthwhile in a World Series hangover year.
