"Calling George Costanza"

I was reading Miklasz's story about the chatter that was going on in the dugout during game 5, and at the top he mentions the Cards' chartered flight arrived in San Fran at 6:30AM. Presumably, they went straight to the hotel. Then I got curious as to how those rooms were arranged. I would guess that it is somehow all sorted out before the playoffs begin, in order to cover all the possible "what-if" scenarios. Clearly, Mo wasn't calling up a list of hotels amid campaign spray in the visitor's locker room seeing who has 40 or so rooms available. Does anyone know how they arrange the hotel rooms for the playoffs? Is each team responsible for arranging enough rooms for visiting teams for the potential duration before the playoffs begin? Or does MLB handle it? Or is there some other way? Maybe someone amongst us has worked in the downtown Marriott or another similar hotel in some other city.
