Its awesome to hear about the Cardinals horrible bullpen again!

Sorry!
Y’all won the world series. It can’t be that bad. I just want a winning season, or.. gasp.. a playoff berth.

If Trahan has a good senior season, I see no way he makes it past the top 15, maybe even the top 10
Having said that, I really hope you are some kind of clairvoyant…Trahan is probably my favorite prospect in the draft due to position, athleticism, and name. That name plays, and it plays big. He’s apparently got a really nice arm (mid 90s from the mound) and has some of the best pop times in this years HS class.
I had never considered the unprotectedness of the 19th pick leading to a college selection; thats a really good point. Still, I think if the choice there is between Diekroeger and a college pitcher, the Cards will select Diekroeger. He really had trouble adjusting to the new bats and had a down year, but the tools are all still there. This season is going to be huge for Diekroeger.
Sleeper choice for the Cardinals is Travis Jankowski. He killed the Cape Cod League this year, and the Cardinals love Cape Cod Killers (see Wong, Kolten; Greene, Tyler)

Thanks
man. Unfortunately someone pointed out to me I was wrong about the unprotectedness of the 19th pick. I like Diekroeger as well, so I’d be jealous if y’all get him. Some people say his stock is down, so I’m crossing my fingers that a miracle happens and he drops to the Pirates in the supplemental round. Dude’s got huge tools.
On the unprotectedness, either way, I doubt the Cards go two high school guys. With the draft cap I think its too risky due to their increase leverage.
Thanks for the idea on Jankowski. I’ll look into him more.

It could be argued that HS talent has less

It could be argued that HS talent has less leverage now
Basically, of they want to play pro ball, they have to accept what a team gives them…no more threatening to go to school for more money, because there is no way they get it

Yep
thats a good point, although I think you are a bit off now. Certainly not guys who get drafted in the top 10 or so, but if you a HS kid is only gonna get 1 million at the end of the 1st, he might think he could become a top 5 pick with 2 or 3 years in college and then get paid 4 or 5 million that top 5 picks will still be getting.
What you won’t see is guys like Josh Bell, Daniel Norris, AJ Cole, and Stetson Allie signing for $400,000 in the 3rd round when they would have gotten 2 million + in past rounds. They’d rather go to college and look for the top or mid of the first round after college.

I think you're right, but it might take a couple years for the high schoolers to "get it"
You know, there are going to be some that make huge mistakes thinking they’ll get better. But when they don’t, and there’s proof that it’s probably better to start getting paid “now” as opposed to risking 3 years of college (well, 1 year of JUCO) then I think you’ll see things even out and less hardball (excuse, the pun) being played by high school kids.
Although, the 2 sport athletes will still have a ton of leverage.
