disaster, right from the horse's mouth
LaRussa just told Shannon it’s only Greene and Cruz that will be called up, with maybe ONE more. Also, for what it’s worth, Punto comes off the DL.
I was hoping for more call-ups.
and Theriot is STRTING today…aaaarghhh.
The Cardinals officially announced that the callups are: Greene, Cruz, and Chambers.

DOOOOOM!!
(how’s that?)
"I wonder if I put on a uniform and told La Russa I wanted to play for him if I could be a big leaguer too?"
"that all depends. are you gritty?" "You would need a mediocre decade of MLB experience first" "do you have a goatee, are you short, and do you try really hard?" "Are you willing to play four positions terribly?"
Cardinals Lineup
1) Furcal, SS
2) Theriot, 2B
3) Pujols, 1B
4) Holliday, LF
5) Freese, 3B
6) Molina, C
7) Craig, RF
8) Robinson, CF
9) Westbrook, P

Wait, a "T Green" is playing for the Brewers?
This will confuse Tony. Greene will end up in the doghouse because someone has a similar name, causing him to think our “T Greene” is disloyal.
The question is how will Tony not play a guy whos not on his team...
by McLaughlin_Stole_My_Beer on Sep 5, 2011 4:29 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Or he'll get confused because T. Green just struck out
And Tyler will be in trouble for poor plate discipline.
Still not a werewolf.
Shannon & Rooney both got a huge laugh out of that
A testy Pujols when asked by @JoeStrauss if he thinks this injury will affect his future "that’s a stupid question, Joe," then walks off.
Damn it!
Is there any reason for Theriot to be appearing in games any more, other than for being the last non-pitcher bench off the bat?
Fair point.
I’d forgotten about (or perhaps “repressed” would be the better term) Patterson’s presence on the team.
I'd rather have Patterson as a 9th-only defensive replacement for Berk
than Theriot do… actually, anything.

Because of the Brewers' left-handed starter.
A second base platoon of Theriot vs. LHP and Schumaker vs. RHP is not a bad thing, even with their poor defensive skills.

I've only got ESPN's game cast going.
Can someone tell me what the “infield singles” by Wolf and Hart were? Misplayed balls?
neither. both rockets. westbrook deflected one, and furcal almost made an unreal play, but throw was late

A testy Pujols when asked by @JoeStrauss if he thinks this injury will affect his future "that’s a stupid question, Joe," then walks off.
Only works when Duncan's here to maintain the magic.
Without him, the drain on on the mana pool’s too high.
You don't start Theriot for one of two reasonings
if this is a meaningless game (which I believe it is) then don’t start someone who will not be with the club next season. On the other hand, if you are counting on Danny in ‘12 as a back-up MIF, then give him a bit of experience against a tough leftie
And if you think this IS an important game that you want to win, you don’t play Theriot because he does NOT help you win.

I glanced at the trending topics on twitter
and am weirdly surprised to notice my parents’ neighborhood trending nationally.
So it turns out there’s a wildfire about a mile from my parents’ home.
My parents went to Lockhart for the day, but oh yeah, I’M IN SAN ANTONIO.
This is what I get for coming home for the weekend. If you don’t hear from me within the next 48 hours, I’m probably dead.
oh sweet I can hear helicopters.
Still not a werewolf.
It looks like we want to lose.
We are trying to go as fast as possible to this loss.
That should have been obvious from the lineup
Fucal and Theriot at the top of the lineup means you won’t be scoring many runs that day….
I mean, seriously, what exactly is wrong with Tony? How does a manager who has been in the league for more than anyone else not understand the simple concept that you want guys to get on base in front of your best hitters, so they can drive them in?
Rocket science it’s not. It’s not even the bar exam. Yet it’s something he never seems to understand, then acts baffled when the team starts losing when he puts terrible OBP games at the top….

I know realistically we were done already, but this game had a sense of finality to it for me.
Good night, sweet Birds, and flights of angels sing thee to thy implausibly team-friendly new contract with Pujols.
Eh.
I figured losing two out of three to the Reds killed the ever-so-slightly renewed realistic chances of us making any progress towards possibly winning the division. With the Brewers playing the awful Houston Astros (and predictably sweeping them) we needed to win 2/3 from the Reds and then sweep the Brewers again.

you kidding me?
I could not possibly be more ready for fall. So, so sick of the heat. And ready for football (college especially), new TV seasons, Oktoberfest celebrations, leaves changing, etc
My favorite words are goodbye, and my favorite color is red
If it weren't for the lack of baseball, winter would easily be the best season
Still not a werewolf.
don't you live in Texas or something?
F off with your 60 degree “winters” (sorry for the harshness). Fall is the best season; I like winter for the first couple months but when it is 30 degrees in late April and still snowing here in Boston….uh screw that.
My favorite words are goodbye, and my favorite color is red
I grew up in St. Louis and frequently traveled to Chicago in the winter.
And hey now, we hit the teens for a week in January.
The weather in Texas is unbearable. Don’t listen to prophetjohn, the winters here are miserable. I miss coats and hats.

We always take a drive up the river road, leaf peep, get pumpkins and cider, ride the ferry. I love fall.

Just today I was telling my parents that I'm now on an extra-salt diet because my blood pressure is too low
Also said I was going to eat cheese for pretty much every meal because my cholesterol is too low.

heh. I'm not really sure I need more salt.
Just really don’t need cold weather.

I’m going through the leftovers in the fridge and get excited by the macaroni and cheese from scratch. But wait! there’s something weird going on here.

Joke of the day
A parrot swallows a viagra tablet.
His owner, disgusted, puts him in the freezer to cool off.
Later when he opens the freezer he finds the parrot sweating
“How come you’re sweating?” He asks, confused.
The parrot replies, “Have you any idea, how hard it is to open the legs of a frozen chicken!?”

Very fitting, seeing as I'm currently running XP on it
I don’t think it’ll be much longer until I give up and try the new Fedora on it. Maybe even see if Kubuntu is palatable.
Thankfully my main computer is OpenSUSE and I can’t foresee that changing any time soon. Or at all, unless something wacky and spectacular happens.

Overall, I’m undecided, but I’m definitely intrigued by the lottery.

I think the lottery is a reasonable response
if there is a perception that teams are tanking to get better picks. I don’t think that happens in baseball much.

Question: Is there a way on Twitter to go to a certain date on a person's profile?
I’m trying to read Dadboner from the beginning but it’s damn near impossible with over 2,000 tweets to go back on.
trying to find anything more than two weeks old on twitter is terrible
or trying to do anything with old tweets.
there is not.
twitter needs to fix this.

if Google caches tweets, you might be able to do it from there
you’d have search by site, but you should be able to specify one twitter user at a time….then try searching for the date in question.
A testy Pujols when asked by @JoeStrauss if he thinks this injury will affect his future "that’s a stupid question, Joe," then walks off.
i'm having trouble finding a way to do this without knowing the exact tweet
Which… I’d have to search anyway. But I think it’s basically impossible to search the user name and the date and have it come out. Thanks for the suggestion though.
