What is the current position regarding Torty and the GOBs?
Heresy in Torty’s elevation to the pantheon? Demi-god status? Rightful object of rally-delivering devotion?

Goodnight, Sweet Prince. Colby Rasmus ~ June 7, 2005 ~ July 27, 2011
Man..
I just felt completely dead all day yesterday after that baseball game. I’ve seen as many bad games as everyone else that watches about 150 games a season but man..that just lingered all day.
I chose one game to see at the stadium in the second half of the season...
It was rain-delayed for two hours, then Billy Bush of Access Hollywood threw out the first pitch…and the worst was yet to come!!
Yeah, you just have to make yourself numb after a certain point.
Is John Mabry still on the roster?
I was deflated when I saw what happened when I got home from work yesterday...
It was hard to get up and go to work today…
But I stood when they were down 10.5 games and what is just 2 games after all of that?
I stood where no man goes...
As did I and I feel the same way
But after the last 2-3 weeks it was like being told Santa Claus wasn’t real.
Well just logged in... Bottom of the first...
Let me say I love you guy and gals….
carry On…
I stood where no man goes...
he was giving up runs right?
that sucks but at least some managers take their pitchers out when they are having a bad night/inning for relievers

I'm not much of a fan of Sean Connery as Bond.
I really enjoyed Brosnan’s portrayal (modern Connery), and I loved Daniel Craig as bond. Of course it helped that Craig’s bond films were written to be far less campy in comparison.

ugh. i think brosnan's bond is intolerably camp. you're right that much of it is the writing of the movies.
on the other hand, a lot of the stuff that is refreshing about the recent movies in the series (e.g., judi dench) actually began while brosnan was still on board. i think craig is an important part of what makes “casino royale” and “quantum of solace” much better than any recent bond movies.
home isn't where it used to be. home is anywhere you hang your head. - macmanus
Oh I was agreeing with you
Daniel Craig certainly has a unique swagger as Bond that is simply fun to watch, and a nice change of pace from the unflappable Brosnan, who is never surprised nor unprepared—it can get boring sometimes, as though they made him almost too suave. That said, I loved Goldeneye, but that probably had as much to do with the subsequent video game as anything. Bottom line—Dainel Craig is an awesome bond.

I wouldn't say we over-achieved
we might win 90 games, maybe just under 90. I think that was a reasonable prediction going in. And Chicago and Houston turned out to be even worse than most people thought they would be. I think we definitely under-achieved, especially given the number of games we could have won if not for late-inning bullpen implosions, but at best I think you could argue we played to our potential (rather than over-achieved)

I'm serious
if Albert wants to be an A-Rod-esque prima donna about not wanting to play for another manager, then fuck the both of them.
Albert either wants to play here or he doesn’t. He knows what this team can and can’t afford. So Albert either wants to stay in STL and take a small pay cut (while still being the highest paid on the team) and be able to have a winning team around him, or he can play somewhere else.

Not going with Dotel there...
is way worse than taking Motte over Salas yesterday. Dotel owns right handed hitters. His job is to get a tough righty out in high leverage situation in th 7th or 8th. Kmac is our fourth best right handed reliever depending on how you feel about Boggs and whether Sanchez is healthy. He’s shouldn’t be anywhere near a close game in the 8th inning.

Well then...
yesterday’s game is starting to look like a massive momentum swing.
What if Tony uses the relievers he used today, for yesterdays game and vice versa…Does that change the two outcomes?
It's time to run TONY LARUSSA out of town.
4 run rally
Marmol with 3 walks and a hbp.
Time and again we see the reliance on a proven methodology... a methodology separate from human experience... built upon figures, not feelings... which encourages our dependence on the empirical world... a world with no room for ground-rule doubles... Inherited Runners Scored
lets hope marmalade has one of his bad control nights

Marmol in.
So you’re saying there’s a chance…

According to the theory of infinite dimensions
the Cardinals must have won in some of them. And on some, the Nazis won World War II. And in at least one, a velociraptor tore out Snooki’s throat.

Watch Albert now go hitless the rest of the season, end up at .298 and 98 RBI.

Matthew Leach wants you to know
Honest opinion: the McClellan/tie-game thing is a bizarre coincidence and nothing more. But it is quite a bizarre coincidence.
No Matt, choking every time is not a coincidence, it’s a validation of his suckage and his uncanny ability to choke in a tight game.
by CarpIsMyManCrush on Sep 23, 2011 11:14 PM EDT reply actions
well, it's a coincidence whose likelihood is increased because kyle is a pretty mediocre pitcher.

I would just like to trot out some interesting facts:
The prospective playoff teams by Meltdowns:
Phillies – 47
Red Sox – 52
Tigers – 56
Dbacks – 56
Brewers – 56
Yankees – 57
Rangers – 58
Braves – 62
The Cards now lead the Majors with a whopping 87.
Interestingly enough, TLR has only been 16th in reliever-games this year. I guess there’s one area where he hasn’t been overmanaging, just poorly managing.
And is VEB cutting in and out for anyone else?

Well at least we'll know sooner that Albert will test FA
I guess that’s one of the benefits of not going to the postseason

how's that?
the deadline isn’t until 5 days after the WS.

i had a witty response
but VEB decided to slow down again and I couldn’t post it.
Basically I was being sarcastic. If we had made the post-season and gotten far, we wouldn’t have had to wait long to hear Albert would test FA.
because we won’t make the post-season we can find out much sooner and thus go through the stages of grief faster.

Well, whatcha gonna do?
It was nothing more than a slim, albeit beautiful, hope in the first place. Who knows? Maybe we finish 5-0 and the Braves go 2-3.
