I purchased it at Target a couple weeks ago to make some switch-outable pacifier moustaches for my friend’s impending baby. I made a starter kit of moustaches including Bruce Vallanch, Rollie Fingers, Burt Reynolds and Hitler. I’ll let the soon-to-be-parents come up with others they can use to make fun of their baby.

Our matchups going forward look pretty good,

We REALLY need a win tomorrow to cut it to one. We face Capuano with Westy on the mound, so hopefully he can have a bounce back start. The series v CHI has some favorable matchups:

FRI: Carp v Dempster
SAT: Lohse v R.Lopez
SUN: Jackson v Wells

Pedometers are actually really useful for certain people

My wife and a classmate of hers in med school helped one of the geriatricians run this pedometer study for a couple years. They can be really good for people who otherwise would fall into not getting enough physical activity, so the elderly are a great population to use them with. It helps keep track and can become a motivation tool.

Garcia’s five strikeouts, giving him 151 for the season. He is the 17th left-handed pitcher to reach 150 strikeouts in a season and the first since Rick Ankiel(notes) fanned 194 in 2000.

Congratulations Jaime. We look forward to your switch to Centerfielder and the many awesomely accurate long-assists/putouts from deep center.

Regarding the Cubs thrilling 2014 9-game world series win over the Miami Gators in Back to the Future II:

Because of that film, and the large and loyal Cubs fanbase, the Vegas odds for the Cubs winning the World Series are pretty much always set high (meaning low payout). So thanks to BttF, if the Cubs win it all — regardless of how futile they look on paper — the fans who bet on them don’t get squat (comparatively).

I’d like to think Bob Gale (BttF screenwriter and University City resident) wrote that in intentionally…just to slightly sully an eventual Cubs championship.

Yeah

My friend from LA, going to Mizzou now, left like a month and a half before me. I keep saying he should transfer to Oregon so he’d get 5 months of break next summer.

Yeah, so it definitely seems like college will be a lot easier than high school. I always thought that would be the case, considering the decrease in homework. Are the classes interesting?

English 1000 which is I enjoy. First essay was a rhetorical analysis on a John Kerry anti-Vietnam War speech which I did well on. Now, we’re reading a book called Quiet American, which is interesting.

And British Literature which just sucks.

because no one in the family in interested in taking over. That sounds nuts to me, although I’m sure running a brewery is not the fantasy willy wonka experience I’ve dreamed it up to be (for instance, I’m assuming there is not any actual beer river inside the factory)

Interesting dynamic: The Phillies may be able to dictate their playoff opponent. And I frankly don’t believe they are took keen on facing the Cardinals in a best-of-five after losing 6 of 9 to them during the regular season.

not that i think the phillies will shit the bed intentionally to face the dbacks, but it is interesting
