It's incredibly stupid
For a very good player to sign a long term deal.
Hitting free agency as soon as possible should be the goal.
Look at Albert. One of the best players in baseball, probably top 5 in the last ten years, yet he’s never been paid like it. I think he made the top ten list once. And since the extension went so long, he has little hope of getting big money, while a younger, but less talented player (Fielder) does
there is always injury risk, though
by The Ghost of Todd Burns on Sep 13, 2011 9:26 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah, this is key.
Injuries, declines in performance, etc. Happen. Don’t you think nate mclouth wishes he’d signed a big deal after his first or second season? I bet BJ upton would like to get in his delorean and go back to 2009 and sign an evan longoria deal.

you don't have to get married to be happy
nor do you have to in order to be a father. sure it’s easier if you are married if you have kids, but the stigma is gone. i’m not a kid person, never have been & i can’t see myself ever being a dad. i’d be a horrible father. to be a good dad you have to be totally & completely selfless, and that’s just not me. at least when it comes to kids.
anyway i felt the same about marriage for close to 15years. now i’m not so sure. i can see that for me now. sure a lot has to change, but i can see it. 10yrs, hell 5yrs ago i never thought i’d say that let alone feel it. i guess i’ve been alone too long or something.
