Into the Future of the Roger Dean Project
Since we've somehow worn out our welcome at the Fishhouses, I think we should take a minute to ponder our collective vision of the future.
I see several options:
1. Since a number of us have truly grown fond of the Marlins, we could simply continue what we did last night. Create a fanshot gamethread, including our Ichthys (The Continental is a good man), and put up an invite over at FishStripes.
2. We could choose another team to try to "swarm."
3. We could end the Roger Dean Project and remember it fondly.
If it's option 1, we have two more upcoming games. The Cardinals are off every Monday this month, and the Marlins are home against the D-Backs on the 13th and the Angels on the 20th. Those are the only two games they play while we're off up to the all-star break.
Personally, I'd vote number 1.
But what do you fine people think?

good fences, good neighbors and all.
1. may be the best option for now.
would've.

Like Y2S said #1 may be best since apparently we upset someone last time.
So we don’t want to do that with someone else. But I wouldn’t mind visiting another one as well. Maybe our mods or someone from here could email their mods ahead of time. So no one is upset and understands we are just trying to spread some baseball love?

This was in the post for the game thread we were intending to join
More than likely some of the VEB faithful will be joining in the Open Thread tonight. And by joining I mean swarming in and taking over the thread and making it really hard to do our normal commenting on the game. If they do show up, you can join in the chaos if you wish. Me, I don’t care to, but I will be monitoring thread.
So instead we made a fanshot on VEB and they were welcomed to join in they cared. Two Fishers did.

the passive agressiveness is curious
While I didn’t participate, I reviewed the original Roger Dean Project thread and saw nothing that would warrant such a reaction. I guess threads with more than 100 posts give him anxiety.

While I respect his desire to stay underground to retain his street cred
a blogger complaining about too many comments has thrown me off kilter.

Yeah. It's his right, but we were received very warmly the first time, so I was quite surprised.
Whatever.

Someone should email SBNation about it.

Option 1, definitely.
We don’t appear to be appreciated on other blogs, and I’ve grown to like those Fish.
The revolution will not be televised.
Option 3, respectfully
Not trying to rock the boat, but this is a Cardinals blog. I find it very odd that we are having game threads for another team. If you’ve truly grown to love the Marlins that much, become a regular poster over there.

this is the real question
Last night was a little more on topic for this blog considering the fish were playing the Brewers. If the Marlins aren’t playing a real threat to the Cardinals, is following/posting here about it appropriate? I would think that if the comments are of high quality and include a predominance of genuine, critical baseball analysis, that would be acceptable. But I don’t know that the typical gamethread meets highbrow baseball discussion standards.
This is a fair point.
On the other hand, it’d be like 8 fanshots in a whole season, all on Cardinal off-days.
I don’t see the harm…

no harm is being done
I just think it’s a little odd. I’m not going to be upset if it continues, I just thought the point needed to be made.

I think if there's just a few of us that want to continue, we should head over there on those days.
But if it’s half the regular gamethread crowd, we ought to keep it here (unless the mods agree with scoot, who has a point).

I suspect there's only about 3-5 of us who are really interested
So I don’t see the harm in just a couple of us going over and ruining their normal commenting. If you notice, we’ve done it off and on since the first time, and most seem engage-able and even welcoming.
Perhaps I underestimate those interested, of course.

Can we get a count?
Besides myself, clank, Continental (the), and all4tookie, who would like to do this regularly (as in the handful of dates they play when we don’t)?
