PNC is good, but Coors is better.

Incidentally, I just got back from a trip to see games in both New York parks. I will never set foot in either again. The parks are decent enough (in very different ways), but the people working there treat you like a suspected criminal.

see, striking out can encourage the opposing pitcher

if you bunt correctly, the catcher should be able to look up and nonchalantly open up his mitt to catch the ball. the pitcher doesn’t feel as dominant because the out was automatic.

having 3 pitchers used ahead of you /= lowest possible leverage

yes, it’s getting better, but it’s still not good. however, i think we will agree the real problem here is that there’s too many pitchers trying to be used in the “lowest possible leverage”.

I dug up the gmLI for Batista in June a few days ago.

It had been around 1.20 – 1.50 or so. Seems less than that now, but someone has to pitch these innings and the starters haven’t been going as deep lately.

...and his name was Eduardo Sanchez, and the name of his slider was Death -DanUp

by The Continental on Jun 21, 2011 11:13 PM EDT up reply actions

he was used in several really high situations at the begining of the year

and, there were a lot of close games for the first two weeks or so. Which lead to everyone having a high leverage situation.

Like you said, when we have starters going 5-6 innings, there are going be a lot more times when someone has to pitch those innings. And some times other guys are not going to be available.

Grit != flat out sucking.

by Evilfrog on Jun 21, 2011 11:16 PM EDT up reply actions

above all else

Batista and Franklin both look putrid 85% of the time. The likelihood of them turning it around looks very unlikely to me. At the very least why can we not create phantom injuries and DL one of them? Especially when most of the bp problems are based off of their suckitude

by thewizard3 on Jun 21, 2011 11:12 PM EDT up reply actions

dont see how it could be Duncs fault

That Batista, Franklin, Miller and Taller are all on our team. Its not like Duncan can just ‘fix’ those guys when they completely ducking suck. I don’t care how much TLR may want some of these ‘vets’ on his team, this falls squarley on Mozeliak….this bullen is pathetic…I don’t know if any of those 4 guys would even be on another team.

Question:

Is it weird if your parents invite their friends and your siblings invite their friends to your graduation party?

There could actually be a scenario where I have less friends than my siblings and parents at my own party. A very good chance.

Maybe...?

Some people who I’ve met three times in my life and not since I was in 7th grade gave me a $50 check just because my mom and her went to college together.

My parents are pissed though because they have twins and know what they have to do haha.

i was allowed to bring friends to my brother's graduation party.

the more the merrier, i say. especially if said people bring gifts (read: cash).

better question: why wasn’t i invited?

Cause you won't bring me anything

And parents’ friends – yes – sisters and brothers – if they did I’d be surprised so no.

You'd want to bring me $20 to hang out at a probably awkward party

because there’s a nice mix of 13-years-old,16-years-old, 18-years-old, and then everyone else will be 30-years-old or older.

A few 20-year-old cousins out of college. There will be like 75 people there.

Does anyone remember Esteban Yan?

I still think Batista has a ways to go to catch him, but he is closing.
