Cards fan in NYC- need help...
hey guys,
Looking for some help in finding a way where I can watch these cardinal games via internet. Is there a website that I can go to, or somewhere I can pay or anything like that that exists out there. I end up following every game on either espn gamecast or mlb gamecast and its pretty awful.
Just to throw my two cents in about this team, the lineup is really much better than anyone could've imagined considering Pujols hasn't done his yearly ritual of shitting on the entire MLB yet, but I will admit, i was the first to wonder if this season might be a drop, but I just have too much confidence in his work ethic and skills to think he can be slumping for an entire year with an injury affecting him. He'll be back and when he is, its going to be scary bc Matty and Puma are killing it any time he and Colby are on base. Just need Freese back sooner than later and Skip as well at this point (didnt think i'd ever say that). I hope we can make a trade for Heath Bell because we need a guy we can rely on to get 3 straight outs down the stretch and in the playoffs.
Anyway, heres to stay in first place and hopefully someone can help me find a way to watch this team kick ass. Also, where can I find these condensed games also?
THanks for the help

hope we don't trade to get Heath Bell because he will cost too much in prospects

the question about the condensed games is a great one
I always have difficulty finding the condensed games list. they should make this one of the major links.

thanks!
I just don’t get why they don’t make this easily accessible on the front page. I’ll bookmark it

MLB.tv of course
just reduced the price, too (a whole $10 too, thanks Bud!).
If you want to watch for free, download StreamTorrent and someone will often post a link to a free stream of the game in the game thread (but lower quality and less reliable than mlb.tv, and not every game is streamed)
A lot of bars in NYC have the MLB package and you can watch the games there, so there’s that. There also a FB group, Cardinals Fans in New York City, that gets together to watch games from time to time.

Speaking of the bullpen
Does anyone really have a problem with a bullpen of
Tallett
Miller
Batista
Salas
Motte
Boggs
Sanchez
Really the only righty that concerns me is the 50 year old Batista. The left side could use some sprucing up, but still not a major concern at this point. Franklin just doesn’t fit anymore. It’ll be interesting to see what they do when Tallett returns. I’m still thinking they’ll hide him on the DL for a while before ultimately trading him to Kenny Wiliams (just seems like a place for overpaid players to land). Augenstein seems likely to be headed to the minors when he returns. We might need one more arm once Batista implodes for good, but I don’t think we need a closer.

my main worry about bullpen is if they insist on bringing augenstein back
which I just don’t see happening

Thanks guys for all your help
Ended up going with mlb.tv and have it on my iphone as well.
As for the pen, i just think we should start off the young guys like salas n sanchez as set up guys rather than closers for a yr or two but i agree it might take too much to get bell. I just cant see franklin give up any more blown saves. Miss the days of izzy being shut down and no1 had to worry as long as we were up by one. He would get those 9 pitch saves like it was his job, oh wait, it is, if only franklin could read his job description….

my main worry about Bell is that he's one of the top closers in the game
that does not come at an easy price. we have to wait and see if Sanchez or someone else nails down the role, and if not mid season would be a good time to re-evaluate the situation imo.

Franklin won't get any more save opportunities
he’s been marginalised to being the last pitcher out of the pen. Has he even pitched in the last week?
I like Bell as well, FWIW, but I wonder if there might not be more pressing needs as the season goes on. Trading for a real shortstop (Rafael Furcal? JJ Hardy?) might be of more use, IMO.
Still bitching to contact.

yeah, either upgrade at 2b or short would be good imo

Skip?
I don’t see why we need him back. He isn’t better than Punto and he can’t LHP at all. Not really sure what purpose he serves except for possibly a pinch-hitter/defensive-OF-sub against RHP.

skip will just make things more unnecessarily complicated

yea,
I don’t know what Skip’s role should be now except to occasionally turn a pitcher around.
I’ve always liked him and wanted him to do well, and he’s definitely served us well at times, but he’d be better off somewhere else. Maybe the Dodgers.

skip's skillset just doesn't fit anywhere on this team
we have 5 outfielders that should get a chance to play before he does in the 3 starters plus Jay and Craig. Jay is the best oufielder off the bench. Craig can play just about anywhere but 3 positions (granted, he probably will not see much of second or third, but who knows). I might even rather see Tyler Greene in the outfield than Skip, but that one’s pretty much a toss up. Descalso, Punto, and Theriot, all better options than Skip at second. I’m just not sure what he can do other than maybe be a limited opportunity pinch hitter or dude off the bench during a blow out.

I hope Skip comes back
before Tony. I want to see what happens. I suppose he’ll be in there just because he hasn’t played but you never know.

I hope he retires right now
like I said, there’s just no spot for him really, and the temptation to start him for Tony will be too great in all likelihood
