VEB Day 2011: The Planning-ing

Hi, I'm SBNation author Alex Fritz. You may remember me from previous Viva El Birdo days such as "VEB Day 2008: Die, Die Devil Rays!", "VEB Day 2009: Swallow Your Padres!" and "VEB Day 2010: You Only Motte Once!".

Today begins the first of many stages for VEB Day 2011. The planning. I've eliminated weekends during school season alread and narrowed it down to six weekends. If we plan on getting tickets all together again, the Cubs weekends should probably not be voted for.

So today, just a short poll to gauge which weekend will work best for VEB Day 4 (this time, it's personal). Poll closes March 18th!

I voted!

It was a tough call between “VEB 2011: Royal Missourumble” and “Battle of the Birds”. Went with the Royals, but if we landed a Carp start against the Blue Jays, we could see something memorable.

not a problem.

There is a new micro-brewery (one of the top guys from goose island is the brewmaster) opening hopefully in June about 1/2 mile south of the stadium. If that is open, we may want to check it out.

As much as I would like the Royals

That day is my mom’s and more importantly, my brother’s birthday. Meaning, drinking far far away from STL sadly. I do know that I was planning on coming down for the TOR series, and VEB day would just seal it.

July 9th was my dads bday, so in a way that would be the perfect day for me to go

but i voted August 13th because it’s the latest date & with my job situation still in flux, i can’t commit to going just yet. i really want to go this year & right this second the later in the season it is, the more likely i’ll be able to attend. i only speak for myself so whatever you all decide to do i’ll try my best to make it. but right now, i’m hoping August 13th wins. i know it will be hot as hell, but for right now i hope it does

I would vote for the Rockies

Just because there’s a chance of a Ubaldo/Carp matchup that would be spectacular, and that tickets for those games would probably be the cheapest of all the games here (generally interleague games and Cubs games have a premium on them).

Also, August is all that works for me this year — TMFW (Too Many Fucking Weddings).

She’ll be screwed again if it’s the Blue Jays game.
