Ron Washington says "[expletive] Carp."

Someone leaked Ron Washington's game 7 pre-game speech where L'il Ron Ron tries to pump his team up. I certainly laughed pretty hard throughout considering what ended up happening in game 7. Warning: the video contains strong language.

That's our manager, heh.

Earl Weaver would be proud. Seriously though, whoever leaked that hopefully got fired. I felt bad for even listening to it. Some things just aren’t meant for media and fan consumption and this was one of them. This is the kind of stuff that goes on in locker rooms and clubhouses all across sports that just isn’t supposed to be heard by anybody except for the guys in that room.

I rather liked it

I think it’s pretty typical locker room stuff, at least from my experience. Watch the HBO 24/7 special on the Caps and Penguins. Wash is tame in comparison.

Something clever...

Yeah, I really enjoyed listening to it and was cringing at the same time

Not the sort of thing that should be released to the public.

Can’t fault Washington for trying to get his team riled up. Also, he was surprisingly respectful to the Cardinals. He started out by saying, in so many words, that the Rangers were playing a really good team, and good teams beat good teams (and vice versa). He and the players know that when they say things like “we’re gonna hit the [expletive] out of this [expletive]” it’s not actually a sincere statement of belief in, say, Chris Carpenter’s inferiority as a baseball player.

I like it!

In fact, I want opposing managers to be saying stuff like “Fuck Carp.”

It means they’re doing something right and getting to the other team, at least.

No it doesn't.

all it says is that Ron Washington is doing what every single other coach has done in the private conversations with their teams.

This shit (diminishing your opponent) gets done at the high school level. This is not only nothing new, but this whole thing is a complete non-story.

That was fucking awesome.

I’d give my left nut to have a recording of a lot of game 7s locker room talks. I bet there’s zero correlation on how well the teams played tho.

I coach women’s Roller Derby and the psychological aspect is HUGE in it…I’ve tried all sorts of types of pre-game talks, most were pretty similiar to this.

this kind of sounds like

boys who aren’t allowed to swear and then get out of listening range of their parents and teachers and are like “f-fuck what they wanna do. we know we can beat those… (looks around) cocksuckers”.

no it doesn't.

It sounds like a grown man talking to other grown men the way grown men (and women) often talk to each other, especially athletes, moments before a game.

it is the opposite of what you said. (no support of argument provided)
