I ordered my World Series merchandise from the Fox Sports Midwest website on Saturday.
It still has not shipped. Did I make a mistake?

I ordered some stuff from MLB.com Saturday, and the first item just shipped today.
Still apparently waiting on the shirt to arrive in the warehouse, even though the damn website said “in stock”…and still does. The order tracking, however, says “Special Item…awaiting inventory arrival”

Grit != flat out sucking.
I did not guarantee next day shipping because I didn't think I needed to do so.
I assume that their shop (or warehouse) hasn’t even received some of the merchandise yet.

You actually ordered from fastballfanatics.com/teamfanshop.com…they fulfill the FSMW orders (Same website with a FSMW skin) and a lot of the championship stuff is noted as special item and shipping as soon as they get it.
I have the same issue with MLB.com, except they say it’s in stock…At least FSMW/FF is upfront about the shipping dates as far as I can tell.

Yes, you should only order from FESPShop!
Which is what I did, for some idiotic reason. Only after I ordered did I get an email telling me that this was an “advance” sale item, and as such, I would have to wait until the item was in. This, despite telling me when I first ordered it that I would likely get it late this week. F*in’ ESPN.

In impactful play No. 9, Roberts' grand slam, what does this mean?
The D-backs had hit grand slams in each of the first three games of the National League Division Series — surely that streak would end in Game 4, right? Wrong.

Tyler Greene
…any chance we actually see him at shortstop next year? Even if one of Westbrook/Lohse gets traded, I have a VERY difficult time seeing the club make payroll with Pujols if Furcal gets signed.
Or they could increase payroll beyond 110, I guess.
With no TLR to bench Greene, though, I think it might make sense to try a MIF of Greene-Descalso
Tyler Greene will be on the roster for sure
I’m in favor of an infield with Furcal at SS and Greene at 2B (with Descalso getting some time at 2B against RHP; I’d be OK with a straight platoon but wouldn’t prefer it).
I think the team would really have to be short on money to go with a Greene/Descalso MIF. And if they’re that short on money, I’m guessing I hate the Pujols contract that made them that short.
by Willie McGee's Twin on Nov 1, 2011 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions
I'm estimating Pujols at 27m AAV
Even the most minimalist of bullpens is going to cost 3.5m
Waino/Carp/Garcia/Westbrook/#5 is another 32 (I’m factoring in having to eat some of Lohse’s salary/pay him to waive the NTR)
Holliday is 17
Berkman 12
Molina 7
…that’s already 71.5, and the team already burned 1.5 million cutting Furcal and Dotel loose.
So now you’re at 73 million. Pujols puts you at 100.
You now have 10 million with which to field a 3b, SS, 2b, CF, backup C, backup OFs, backups IFs, a manager.
Yikes.
I'd probably disagree with some of this.
A manager’s salary doesn’t count – even if it does, we’re saving quite a bit there over TLR’s 2011 salary.
27 AAV is too much for Pujols; no way we pull the trigger on that, IMO.
I don’t think anyone from the starting rotation will be traded.
Relatively easy to pay minimally for the extra spots and bullpen – 3b – Freese (min), CF – Jay (min), INF – Greene (min), C -Cruz (min), INF – Descalso (min), OF – Chambers (min), OF – Craig (min), INF – M. Carp, bullpen – Lynn, Rzep, Boggs (arb 1), Salas, Sanchez, Motte (arb 1 – $1mm), Reifer/Dickson/FA LOOGY (all min or close to it).
by Willie McGee's Twin on Nov 1, 2011 7:42 PM EDT up reply actions
It's going to be >= 25 AAV
I can’t see him taking Ryan Howard money.
…nevermind the fact that the Ryan Howard contract is a hideous abomination…
If he requires >25M for longer than 5 years
The Cardinals should no longer be in the Albert Pujols business.
Not afraid to nitpick
i'd give him the Ryan Howard contract
Here’s to the crazy ones. The rebels. The troublemakers. The ones who see things differently. While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
Give him 6/180 and backload it to make the npv
something like 150. That way he gets to have the highest npv and the Cardinals get a reasonable contract.

Unless it's for like 3 years
I still don’t totally understand players demanding long term deals at the cost of AAV. Wouldn’t a guy like Pujols, who I am sure is impossibly confident in himself, rather get 3/90 this year, banking he could get 3/90 3 years from now?
Not afraid to nitpick
guaranteed money.
lots and lots and lots can happen in three years. if he gets tragically hurt and/or loses tons of production, he’s going to cost himself down the line. if he signs long term now, he gets that money no matter what. it’s too big a risk.

Costas brought up in his TLR interview
that equity deals are kosher under the CBA. Some combination of deferred salary + vesting equity (upon retirement) could bring his effective salary under 25 mil.

They should increase payroll this year
With the added WS revenue they have no excuse IMO. I would love for them to trade Westbrook or Lohse though.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
also, it'll be fairly easy to shed payroll heading into 2013
with Lohse, Westbrook, and Puma cming off the books. Shelby should easily replace one of the starters, along with other possibilies like Lynn, Rzep, Cleto, Dickson, etc. Somebody can be a 5th starter, and the rest can be in the bullpen.
by Willie McGee's Twin on Nov 1, 2011 8:59 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, they definitely should be willing to increase payroll for 1 year
I can’t wait to Westbrook and Lohse are replaced by Lynn and Rzep.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
I don't think we'll see Rzep as a starter.
Maybe, but I see him as more of a Scott Downs-type long-term.
by Willie McGee's Twin on Nov 1, 2011 9:11 PM EDT up reply actions
I really hope not
He was fantastic as a starter for 120 innings in the AL East – I certainly think we should give him a chance. I could easily see him turning into a Jaime quality starter.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
He actuallly reminds me of Jaime - not so much mechanics, but the velocity and movement of his pitches.
I think he could start. Maybe he’ll be up for the 5th starter role in 2013 behind Waino, Miller, Carp, and Garcia.
by Willie McGee's Twin on Nov 1, 2011 9:25 PM EDT up reply actions
I agree about his stuff
Hopefully he won’t be pidgeonholded as a reliever.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
Carp is only signed thru 2013 as well
What? I can't hear you over ALL THE CHAMPAGNE BEING POURED IN MY EARS.
yup
keeping Pujols in terms of yearly payroll, next year could very well be the only really troubling season for the owners. In light of extra revenue from the WS and the fact that they should be saving at least 2-3 million on the manager, there’s no reason they can’t temporarily increase payroll in 2012 to keep a transcendent player. I don’t think a hard payroll will be the issue with keeping Albert.
After 2012 the team would save ~20 mil with Lohse and Westbrook replaced by some combination of Miller, Lynn, Rzep (my vote would be Miller and Rzep and keep Lynn as a high leverage reliever). Another 12 mil would be saved if they don’t keep Berkman or if he retires and Craig replaces him full time.
I fear the issue will be contract length. Can the team really give Albert ~25mil/yr for 8-10 years? That will look terrible after say 5 years. Will he even consider something at a more reasonable length, like 6-7 years? I’d give him 1-2 mil/yr more if I could knock a couple years off of the total length.
11 in '11!! To Infinity and Beyond!!! ...
I think he's gotten the best offer he's going to get from us.
It’ll just depend on what offers he gets from other clubs. I’m really not seeing them breaking the bank to keep him.

I think it's ambiguous
Freese might have just blurted it out, or that might really be what the rest of the clubhouse thought.
I’ve noticed that, since the WS, the players keep getting asked about how they pulled it off, and a number of them have mentioned “trades” in general, praising Mo, etc. Maybe I’m reading between the lines too much, but Freese’s comment makes me wonder.
What? I can't hear you over ALL THE CHAMPAGNE BEING POURED IN MY EARS.
I really don't think he meant anything by it.
I feel like if he had wanted to say something about it he would have had the opportunity already. Maybe he feels like he can say it now because at the moment he can do no wrong but it doesn’t seem consistent with how he’s been handling everything.

it's hard to say
if I had to guess, I think it was on purpose. However Freese strikes me as a bit of a space cadet sometimes (for example, I thought it was hilarious when he had nothing to say in his defense for missing his flight to LA….he denied he was partying, but he never actually explained why he missed the flight), which is why I think it’s ambiguous.
What? I can't hear you over ALL THE CHAMPAGNE BEING POURED IN MY EARS.

That's what I mean by it not being consistent.
I think he could have said it and subconsciously was thinking of Colby’s situation or had just been thinking of his situation more recently because of the trade earlier in the season and just said how he felt about that kind of situation.

neither did i
the comment came up in the context of a discussion about how supportive his parents have been… that they were the only ones who supported his decision to drop bball even though he had a scholarship to Mizzou; and then they had to turn around and pay tuition. jay asked him if his dad was his coach, and specifically “was that good or bad”? david said it was great as a kid, but at a certain point coaches have to coach and “ya gotta let your dad be your dad”. i think that’s an honest, generic answer. i don’t know freese from adam, but he doesn’t strike me as the type of guy to send a subliminal, snarky message to an ex-teammate.

He could have meant it that way.
It just doesn’t seem consistent with the way he acts. I feel like he would have had plenty of opportunities to say it before and he didn’t (at least that we know of, but come on you know Strauss would have been all over that) so it seems odd that he wait until now to say it. Was it a poor choice of words? Yes. Was it possibly influenced by the happenings this year? Quite possibly. Do I think he meant it to call out the Rasmus family? No. And I think that may be a distinction I’m making that others aren’t. That he could have said it because he was influenced by what happened this year but wasn’t saying it to be “mean” (maybe not the right word but all I could come up with right now).

This was the Team of the Living Dead, and its story will live on for all of eternity in the heart of every St. Louisan draped in red and every witness bewitched by ball.
So many — too many — teams talk about the adversity endured on the road to a title, but few lived it quite like these Cards. Theirs was a hurdle laid out not in some invented anecdote but in the cold, hard mathematics that lead to fairly basic conclusions. This team was 10 1/2 games back of the Wild Card on Aug. 25. The postseason, let alone the championship, was but a rumor.
Yet here they are.

So, Yellon has an article up on Baseball Nation again.
Well, more of a BS session with the other BN writers. Guess what team it’s about. Go on, guess. No, it’s about the Cubs.
In fact it’s a moderately interesting hashing out of who in the hell is doing what in the Cubs front office. Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, Jason McLeod, and Randy Bush are all jumbled up at the top of the Cubbie’s FO pyramid. The Big 3 were together in Boston, of course. But time marches on. Hoyer was the GM in San Diego. If egos get in the way, this could be such a glorious trainwreck. My popcorn is ready.

So does anyone else think that Lohse is likely to be moved this offseason
He had a solid season and, while we probably wouldn’t get much in return, we could probably find someone willing to take on the contract. It’s more likely than anyone wanting Westbrook.

Not too sure I WANT Lohse moved.
He earned his money this last year. Seems like when he’s healthy, he’s capable. And he’d be replaced by…?
Lohse had a 4.00 xFIP this year
Which is the still the best mark of his career, and he’ll be 32.
Lohse is completely replaceable, either with Lynn or Rzep.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
Not counting on either of those guys for 2.5 WAR, sorry.
Could it happen, sure. But Lynn’s last year as a starter (AAA 2010) was no great shakes, and Rzep has never been particularly above-average as a starter either. You’re being too cavalier about them.
by Pegasus on Nov 1, 2011 9:08 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
I'm not counting on Lohse for 2.5 WAR either
This was the best year of his career and he’ll be 34 next season (sorry, not 32). He should projected at 1.5 WAR at the most and I think Lynn or Rzep can easily match that. Rzep already has in limited playing time as a starter in the AL East.
Rzep has never been particularly above-average as a starter either.
This is best on absolutely nothing. Rzep was worth 1.7 WAR per FanGraphs as a starter in 2009 and 2010 over 123 innings. That’s better than Lohse has ever been. Rzep also has a career 3.44 ERA in the minor leagues as a starter.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
Again, NOT his best year ever.
And Rzep getting hurt isn’t something you — I’ll use the world again — can just cavalierly ignore. Health is a skill, and some pitchers don’t have it.
Anyway, would (sincerely) love to debate this more, but I have a prior engagement with a female. G’night VEB.
It was Lohse's best year on a rate stats basis
We’re just arguing semantics at this point. He had the lowest ERA, FIP and xFIP of his career – I don’t know what else you call that besides his best year.
Health is a skill, and some pitchers don’t have it.
Actually, I would argue that no pitches have it. Our ability to predict injury in pitchers is minimal at best. Also Lohse is 34, those guys tend to break down more than 25 year olds.

it's kind of funny that i'm saying this, but mayhaps you should adjust for the league he played in
i would call his best season 2003 when he amassed 3.3 WAR, but maybe i’m crazy

yeah okay
king of limbs sucks.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
Wait, what?
We’re just arguing semantics at this point.
No, no we’re not. If a guy throws 30 innings with a 0.50 FIP, he did NOT have a better year than a guy who threw 200 with a 4.00 FIP (important note: I am pretty sure, though not positive, that this would be true; you get my point anyway). That’s not a semantic difference.
He threw 188 innings this year, not 30
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
Of course quantity matters towards value
Thats’ not what we’re talking about.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
o rly
So we’re talking about how xFIP alone is the right rate stat to decide which season is a guy’s best? Good to have that settled, then.
We're talking about whether Lohse is likely to repeat this level of perfomance next year
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
thanks (really) for reorienting me:
okay — you think the likelihood of Lance Lynn (who has never attempted to start in the majors and was not especially good at it in the minors) or Rzep (who has repeatedly attempted to start in the majors and failed to show any indication he is durable enough to last a season) being a 2.5 win starter is at least as great as the likelihood of Kyle Lohse (who has now done it 4 times in his career) being a 2.5 win starter, next year.
I think you are wrong.
Now, I’ll grant that the money saved might be worth the gamble. But that hasn’t been your argument, so far.
Yes, I am arguing that Rzep or Lynn have an equally good shot at being a 2.5 WAR starter
Rzep is 27 next year and in 125 innings as a starter in the AL East in 2009 and 2010, he was worth 1.7 WAR. Yeah, there is a question of durability, but Rzep was a starter throughout his career in the minors and has only been a reliever this year. I think he is better than Lohse going forward, who is 34.
Lynn, I’m not as confident in, but he has far better stuff than Lohse and many of VEB prospect experts believe him to be very good.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
do you like him better than lohse?
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
specifically next season
and only based on pitching merit? i’m not sure. his 2010 season was pretty bad. he’s also going to give you fewer innings than lohse, since lohse is more stretched out.
i don’t think the difference either way is likely to be more than +/- 1 WAR
Kyle Lohse threw 188 innings this year.
Mark Rzepczynski has thrown fewer than that in his major league career, and never more than 159 (across all levels) in a season.
I think he has better stuff than Lohse. I think his chances of throwing more than 120-150 innings — at least at full health — are substantially lower than Lohse going ~200. I don’t think the talent disparity makes up for that gap.
We’re in judgment call and gut feel territory here, so probably not much more point to arguing it. After all, Lohse has a NTC.
We can still trade him though if he waives it
which he might be inclined to do if we threaten to bullpen him. Trading Westbrook makes a lot more sense, but Lohse has waaaay more trade value.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
right, threatening to bullpen in his contract year would play to our advantage.
THE BATMAN|TOWEL BOY.|VP of TG Fanclub
Twitter|Google+|FREE TYLER GREENE!
Why would we bullpen him?
Why would he believe that threat?
Your whole theory here is based on wishful thinking and hopes — wishing Lohse (i.e. Lohse’s agent) was dumb enough to fall for that, hoping Lynn’s velo bump translates to SP success he’s never shown in the past, hoping Rzep’s fragility just goes away. Sorry, I’m not building a team on best-case scenarios.
I don't actually think we are going to trade Lohse
I would just want us to.
And I’m not arguing we build a team based on best case scenarios – I’m building it based on reasonable average projections. And it’s incredibly disingenuous for you to say that, especially since you just agreed it is a judgment call.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
It's not a bit disingenuous.
Your judgment is “I think we’ll see best case.” Mine is “I don’t think we will.” Were I running a team, I would not count on best cases. There’s nothing inconsistent there.
But hey, pout if you’re mad.
I don't think Rzep being as good as Lohse for a similar amount of innings is best case and I've made that very clear
I think that’s average case. Best case would be Rzep being worth 4 WAR in 190 innings like Jaime’s been.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
Rzep was worth 1.7 WAR in 125 innings in 2009 and 2010
In the minors, he has a career ~3.40 ERA in ~50 starts. Rzep is also 27 whereas Lohse is 34.
I think there is plenty of evidence for Rzep being as good as Lohse.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
i mean, do the math
you’ve got rzep putting up 1.7 over 120 innings of starting. so in 200 he’s got what, 2.7 or so?
again, no indication he can go 200. and even if he does, that’s roughly what lohse did this year.
you’re just assuming, contrary to the evidence, that rzep has starter durability. good luck with that.
Rzep has been a starter all of his life before this season
With the Jay’s he averaged about 5.8 innings per start. Lohse, this year, averaged 6.3 innings per start.
I don’t see much evidence to say that Rzep’s durability is something much to worry about.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
you're not even trying
c’mon, if you’re not going to be serious, what are we doing here?
you’re citing average innings per start, rather than inning load over a year? and, again, ignoring the history of actual injuries?
i’m going to bed.
21 starts
which is all he got.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
is your point
that he didn’t choose to have a small innings load, so therefore he’s going to pitch a lot of innings anyway?
i dunno
it’s so dumb i’m having a hard time expressing it
pegasus’ point is that he has not a had a starter’s load ever in his career, therefore it is unlikely that he will be able to handle a starter’s load next season. this would be true of any pitcher, regardless of the reason why he only tossed 120 innings or whatever
you're cherry picking stats
120 innings is the most rzepczynski has ever pitched with 60 last season and lohse is coming off 188 IP
just like using FIP from several years ago instead of WAR when the league has changes so much
Rzep never got a full season's worth of starts
I’m citing all I can from him.
I’m saying if we gave each Lohse and Rzep 30 starts next year, here is what is most likely to happen:
1) Lohse will pitch more innings per start.
2) Rzep will be better on a rate stats basis.
3) Lohse is less likely to get injured. And this point I would agree with only very tenuously given our track record at predicting starter injuries.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
rzep never having a full season of starts is the opint
he’s going to give you fewer enough innings to essentially cancel out being better on a per unit basis
it’s a wash
I agree
I think Rzep and Lohse, if given 30 starts, are likely to have equal value.
That’s been my argument the entire time.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
okay
“there’s another player about as good as him on the team” seems like an odd reason to vehemently demand a trade that will bring little salary relief and minimal prospect return and eliminate the starting pitching depth
I think the salary relief and minimal prospect return is worth losing some starting pitching depth
We’d still have Lynn as a backup, and it’s not that hard to find pretty cheap not terrible starters on the free agent market.
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
we also have westbrook
who is coming off a crappy season and wainwright who is coming off of elbow surgery. i like the depth, it’s not worth $2MM or a C prospect

but if it really doesn’t matter because they’ll both have the same value, then what does it matter? lohse isn’t going anywhere, why would he? Because if we can replace Lohse' production
We can trade him to upgrade in other areas. He had a 3.39 ERA this year – I think he has some trade value. We could get maybe 6 million in salary relief and a B/C prospect.
That 6 million would likely allow us to re-sign Furcal and Punto.

That sounds well and good.
But i don’t see lohse letting us trade him. not without it costing us more money in a payout to him for waiving the NTC. Then you’re not saving 6mil. I see your logic, but i just don’t see it happening.

I think threatening a guy like that is not going to get you very far

All you can do is ask him. He’s got the NTC for a reason.

What? I can't hear you over ALL THE CHAMPAGNE BEING POURED IN MY EARS.

We’re paying his contract anyway. If Lynn is in the rotation and Lohse is in the pen, that’s 12.5 million owed. If Lohse is in the rotation and Lynn is in the pen, that’s 12.5 million owed.
If you accept that the two are equal pitchers going forward (which I believe) than it doesn’t matter what role they are in.

I think his best year was probably 2008, but regardless this was one of his best years.
I think your projection is low, and is overly-influenced by his injury-plagued years. He’s a 2.2-2.7 WAR pitcher next year and I don’t think he’s any more of an injury risk now than any other pitcher.
For next year, I’d rather keep Lynn and Rzep in the pen and keep Lohse as our #4. Sure, assuming he waives his NTC (and I don’t see why he would), we could shed some payroll by trading him but I don’t see much upside in doing so. just the fact that he thinks he can save the cubs because he saved the Red Sox tells me he has got a high opinion of himself — I look forward to lots of bad signings and bloated payrolls, although, to be fair, he will have to be really bad to beat Hendry

As I said before, this club has no interest in a 2B who has a high OBP, runs well, and plays good defense.

a list of things I can’t believe
1. We scored 13 runs tonight
2. Eduardo Sanchez got the win tonight
3. Tony La Russa used Octavio Dotel for the 4th game in a row tonight- and it worked
4. That I am typing this coherently given the amount of bourbon in my body
5. That @TortyCraig is a twitter phenomenon

In honor of Tony's retirement
Talking Points About Tony?
Hey!
I’m sorta new around this particular forum &
not quite sure what is considered "In Good Taste"….
When incorporating certain verbs & nouns into dialog regarding Tony,
may I use the following descriptives to assist the reader in a
better understanding of a particular song, dance or pony show
that may need a further deeper clarification of my point of view?
IE:
Idiot
Stupid
Asshole
Nitwit
Dingbat
Clueless
Numskull
Impotent….(refering to "Inaction") rather than "Limpdick"
but not ruling out "Limpdick" as I have no first hand knowledge
either in support or dispute of "Limpdick" IE: Just Speculation….lol!
On A Side Note:
In defence of "Mr T"
Low these past many years,
I have noticed extreme Potency
with regard to "Action" &
suspect "The Purple Pill"
may be in play behind the scenes?
Sex is very much like baseball in the sence that….
You are as likely to Screw as you are to SCREW UP!
Ain’t it time we MANAGE over MIS-FREAK’N-MANAGE!
Anyway, I was just wondering if these "Descriptives"
were OK to utilize when talking about "Mr T"

wow
I’m surprised that he just gave up all of a sudden like that.
What? I can't hear you over ALL THE CHAMPAGNE BEING POURED IN MY EARS.
not that surprising
He needs the money. Once the ownership of the team was clear as between him and Jamie, a sale was IMO a strong possibility.
(he said, with the benefit of hindsight)
well
all I mean is that he dragged it out this long, I’m surprised he’s giving up before the final act. Maybe he can’t pay his lawyers any more.
What? I can't hear you over ALL THE CHAMPAGNE BEING POURED IN MY EARS.
but the dragging out was really, really profitable
they were fighting over the ownership of what i assume was their largest saleable asset. now he’s got it to himself, and hell yeah it’s for sale. unless i’m missing some aspect of the whole debacle (i didn’t pay close attention)
well, yeah, that's just it
This isn’t about his wife. He’s been fighting MLB to keep control of the team. That’s what all the noise about McCourt trying to sell the TV rights is over. Selig (and presumably the other owners) are furious about that, and have been trying to force him to give up the team.
What? I can't hear you over ALL THE CHAMPAGNE BEING POURED IN MY EARS.

How would he lead defensive WAR?
He plays left field???
Secretary of WAR and defense (Tyler Greene Fanclub). PUT TYLER ON THE GREENE.
yeah
i’m not actually sure where this came from- someone said something like this earlier. maybe they were using BRef, because Fangraphs actually doesn’t have Lee’s 2011 defense that good- 18.1 UZR/150 (in a related note, i’m really confused why this isn’t showing up normally in the defensive leader board- maybe Fangraphs is as confused by it as i am), but the fact that it’s even positive is bizarre.
wait, never mind, that is really good
i’m having a lot of problems with the fangraphs defense leader boards right now. ignore me.
in a related note Dan Uggla played more innings in the field than any other MLB player this year
i’m having fun with this thing now you guys
Wouldn't be hard to cover in that park.

Corey Patterson was drafted above
JD Drew
CC Sabathia
Matt Holliday
Mark Buehrle
Adam Dunn
and that doesn’t include those that didn’t sign that year (Zito, Lee, Teixeira)
Still not a werewolf.
Buehrle was drafted in the 38th(!) round that year
so there are a ton of players from that draft ahead of Mark that never even got to the majors, much less put up 45.9 fWAR (46.6 bWAR), not just C Pat.

WTF SI?!
I like hearing Rodgers praise as much as any cheesehead and I get that that Pack are 7-0 defending chaps and all, but for fucks sake! They always put champions on the cover after they win one in any sport, the MLB just had the most exciting playoffs ever with two teams that made historic runs to win the wild card, no sweeps, more elimination games and more total games played than ever before, an incredible WS game 6 and in the end the most out of it team comeback story in playoffs history wins out and all this just before thier HOF manager retires (actually to be fair SI may not have known about Tony retiring before picking the cover but just saying) and thier trancendant HOF one of the all time great superstar possibly leaves via free agency, and you think a football team on a bye week is more worthy of the cover than the Cardinals?! I’d be mad about this if I wasn’t a Cradinals fan! Fucking stupid!

To be fair, the last two covers have featured the World Series
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/cover/select/2011-01-01/2011-12-31/dd/1/index.htm
Plus I would swear there was a commemorative, “Cardinals World Series Champions” issue on sale in the local grocery store when I went yesterday.
Tehre's always one of those
I gotta pick one up, but I bet they’re not available in Chicagoland.
WTF there's TWO issues that have come out since the last one I got
I think my #$#$@# mailcarrier is stealing them or something.
