Bud Selig as Commissioner = Conflict of Interest,

Yes, he divested himself of the Brewers only to give them to his daughter. (I don’t know who owns them now.)

Speaking of Selig, guess what he did for a living before owning the Brewers? He was a car salesman. In fact, he had sold Joe Torre his first car.

BTW, Selig is the German word for “blessed”.

Between Theriot & Punto I can’t say I’m real worried. As long as Tony remembers that Chambers is the 2nd string CF.

IIRC

that is a mid-series thing. Say, if Holliday had been forced to be DL’d during this series, he wouldn’t be eligible for the LCS. Now, since we are between series, they just reset the roster.

Gotta share some thoughts

It’s strange but I’m pretty apathetic about this team. I knew the Colby trade would really bother me for a while, but I’m hardly excited to watch this team play more. I felt like the sooner LaRussa was gone, the sooner I could come back to the team in full force. I’ve been a member of this blog since the 04-05 offseason, and this is the first time every ever felt anywhere near this amount of….ick.

I can still get excited for the team, and I obviously want them to win it all (if not them, than the Rangers) but damn…I’m not even excited.

I've been saying since early September that I would be more scared of the Brewers than the Phillies in the post season.

That’s not disrespecting the Phillies, but I think we were a good matchup for them. They had a middle of the line offense backed by the best pitching staff in baseball right now, but we have the best offense. Not many teams can count on getting runs on guys like Hamel, Oswalt, Lee, and Halladay in every game of a short series, but the Cardinals are one of them.

I just can’t see the same thing happening with the Brewers. I can see the NLCS turning into a shootout for at least 3 of the games.

Rams, Cardinals, Bulls. Life is good.

I was just looking up season offenses by team...

And they were a bit lower than I expect (not bad, around 4-5th in the NL across most categories, and not too far off the Phillies). Guess it was just some bias in my head and with regards to them having HFA.

Rams, Cardinals, Bulls. Life is good.

by JStymie on Oct 8, 2011 2:35 AM EDT up reply actions

they've got a respectable offense

Tonight it was Hart, Morgan, Braun, Fielder, Weeks. That’s a pretty good 1-5. Seems to me it was usually Morgan leading off followed by Hart, but maybe I’m drunk. Whatever, it’s still a solid run of batters.

It's because he does things like that so frequently.

People are going to react to a single event more strongly if the person involved is a “repeat offender”, though I’m pretty sure he knew there was a mic around as the reporter had been grabbing at his arms trying to get him to talk.

But wasn’t it his previous at bat when he got mad and snapped his bat over his knee? Crap like that gets you a reputation.

I'm in Japan

and I’m the only one going crazy. (although, I know a Brewers fan and a Tigers fan, so the playoffs should be fun)

I don't have the power

plus her profile lists her as a brewers fan, which could cause a minor sb nation scandal this week.

after the cardinals won I got an email that said

“I apologize in advance for all my Wisconsin friends and relatives probably wanting the cardinals to die in a fiery bus crash”

BCB is making noises about some hawk, I guess it landed in the stadium?

Not sure, since I failed to read all of their comments. They’re playing it off as something to go up against the rally squirrel. I guess they haven’t payed attention to the squirtle. Makes me think about coconuts and swallows. I’d like to see a hawk pick up a squirtle…“It’s a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.”

you can't watch the playoffs if your team sucks though, right? Golf Channel.

Surely they’re mistaken.

Is it bad of me to hope we go 5 games in the NLCS?

Mainly because I have bleachers for game 5 and it would be awesome.

I don't see any sweeps happening on either side

Should be a really good series. I’ll be a nervous wreck though

Jealous, best I could get was Left Loge 269 for game 5, congrats! I had bleachers for that horribly depressing game 3.

i don't know, but it seemed remarkable and fortuitous that when i put on pandora after the game, the first thing that

came out was “stuck in the middle with you” by stealers wheels.

I once put together

a whole cassette tape with winning type songs for our softball team when we went to a tournament. Damned if I can remember any of the songs now, and all of my music is not here with me.
