Bud Selig as Commissioner = Conflict of Interest,
Yes, he divested himself of the Brewers only to give them to his daughter. (I don’t know who owns them now.)

Speaking of Selig, guess what he did for a living before owning the Brewers? He was a car salesman. In fact, he had sold Joe Torre his first car.

Between Theriot & Punto I can’t say I’m real worried. As long as Tony remembers that Chambers is the 2nd string CF.

IIRC
that is a mid-series thing. Say, if Holliday had been forced to be DL’d during this series, he wouldn’t be eligible for the LCS. Now, since we are between series, they just reset the roster.

Gotta share some thoughts
It’s strange but I’m pretty apathetic about this team. I knew the Colby trade would really bother me for a while, but I’m hardly excited to watch this team play more. I felt like the sooner LaRussa was gone, the sooner I could come back to the team in full force. I’ve been a member of this blog since the 04-05 offseason, and this is the first time every ever felt anywhere near this amount of….ick.
I can still get excited for the team, and I obviously want them to win it all (if not them, than the Rangers) but damn…I’m not even excited.

As a reply to all...I know...Right?
Like I said, I feel like the sooner LaRussa is gone the better, and I think he’s probably gone if the cards bomb the DS, but at this point they have to win, so LaRussa can go out “on top”. Just doesn’t feel like the right reason to watch a team…thus my apathy
check out VEB on facebook...just search groups for Viva El Birdos
at this point I'm just not sure you can say tony's had a bad season
the team won 90 games and they just beat the phillies in five. that seems like a best-case scenario for this group.
I didn't say he did
I’m just tired of Tony.

I've been saying since early September that I would be more scared of the Brewers than the Phillies in the post season.
That’s not disrespecting the Phillies, but I think we were a good matchup for them. They had a middle of the line offense backed by the best pitching staff in baseball right now, but we have the best offense. Not many teams can count on getting runs on guys like Hamel, Oswalt, Lee, and Halladay in every game of a short series, but the Cardinals are one of them.
I just can’t see the same thing happening with the Brewers. I can see the NLCS turning into a shootout for at least 3 of the games.
Rams, Cardinals, Bulls. Life is good.
The Brewers lineup can be pitched to
Braun and Fielder are awesome but they have a lot of outs in that lineup. Our problem against them earlier in the year was letting the scrubs do damage
like McGehehehe getting 3 HRs in one game
"No, it seems to me that Wednesday night isn’t what makes baseball great. It’s all the years you spend waiting for Wednesday night that makes baseball great."--Posnanski
I was just looking up season offenses by team...
And they were a bit lower than I expect (not bad, around 4-5th in the NL across most categories, and not too far off the Phillies). Guess it was just some bias in my head and with regards to them having HFA.
Rams, Cardinals, Bulls. Life is good.
they've got a respectable offense
Tonight it was Hart, Morgan, Braun, Fielder, Weeks. That’s a pretty good 1-5. Seems to me it was usually Morgan leading off followed by Hart, but maybe I’m drunk. Whatever, it’s still a solid run of batters.
"No, it seems to me that Wednesday night isn’t what makes baseball great. It’s all the years you spend waiting for Wednesday night that makes baseball great."--Posnanski
they still run COMPLETELY through braun and fielder.
if those guys aren’t doing anything, their offense isn’t doing anything.
by stlcardinalsfang on Oct 8, 2011 2:39 AM EDT up reply actions
Hart has been leading off for awhile now
He is sneaky good. But with Weeks in the tank right now literally 5-9 are outs if you make your pitches
ignoring a potential matchup with the cards in the WS
