I decided ‘fuck this’ around when the rangers got their second go-ahead run, and an idiot rangers frat boy fan decided to just chant ‘baseball’. Watched the rest of the game at a coffee shop that randomly had the game on. Ended up randomly running into someone else from the St. Louis area.

Sorry,

I wasn’t cheering for injuries at all, I was just saying that I’m not as concerned about “the best team” being on the field. You work really hard to get AROUND that during the game (see: Washington, Ron, IBB of Albert Pujols in 10thn inning), so why get upset when it happens by chance?

Then get a crushing blow (seventh inning) a.k.a the game we lost against the Mets. We make another promising return but get crushed again (10th inning) a.k.a the series against the Cubs, iirc. But, in the end, we make one last, effort to win

by Valatan on Oct 28, 2011 1:33 AM EDT up reply actions

I would throw out Carp for, say, 40 pitches

and have EJax and Lohse both in the pen on similar pitch counts. Hopefully they can get us through 6 or 7 innings and then turn the ball over to the pen. My slight concern is that Motte, Rzep, Salas, Lynn and Dotel all pitched last night and all threw quite a few pitches (Motte, Salas and Lynn especially) but I suppose Texas are in the same boat. I’d definitely be happy to throw EJax out of the pen for 1-2 innings, though. He hits 95mph as a starter so presumably on a short leash he can get closer to 100.

Still bitching to contact.

by Felonius_Monk on Oct 28, 2011 8:17 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah.

Texas only had Gonzalez (L) and Wilson left — saving Harrison for game 7.
Cards had Rhodes — saving Carp for game 7 (although no pitches thrown by Lohse or Jackson).

So, uhh, scary story guys.

We heard glass shatterting in my house and upon investigation we discovered a shattered glass pallet and a bullethole in the glass door of my parents’ bathroom. Now we don’t know where the bullet came from and we couldn’t find the bullet. All i know is that probably one of my neighbors wasn’t happy about my screaming and might have shown his anger by firing at the house. Or it could just be a lost bullet from far away. All I know is that I love my country and it is the most beautiful place in earth. But, hell, it gets violent here. A lot.

Once Berkman hit the single I knew it was over.

You can’t give an offense like the Cardinals that many chances and expect them not to make you pay for it. The bottom line is all our bullpen had to do was get 3 outs. 3. Twice. And it would have been over. And they couldn’t do it.

It's probably for the best.

Now that I’ve got some beer in me I’m good, but right after the game I was pretty upset. Most people over there don’t come down so quickly. And don’t get the wrong impression of us. I’m sure some of you that have come out to DFW were treated well by our fanbase because that’s just kind of how we are. But yeah, right after the games emotions run pretty high and people are probably not going to take it very well. And it sucks because you guys are awesome over here, one of the better communities I’ve come across on SBN really. But the difference is you guys have been there before. You guys have gotten to experience it (some of you several times probably), and we’re still waiting. So when stuff like this happens it’s just kinda tough and people will be more apt to fly off the handle I guess.

Yeah

I felt terrible reading one comment about a guy who had texted his wife to wake up their young kid to watch the 9th inning, to see something special happening.

Now if it had been the Cubs, it would have been hilarious. But in this case, a bit gut wrenching.

This is after most of you are passed out (as I will be as well soon)… I’ve been a baseball fanatic since the mid 80’s and this was the best baseball game I have ever watched (and worst considering the early defensive miscues.) But still, most exciting game I’ve ever watched. I went nuts at the bar tonight here in San Francisco. And I wasn’t alone – this city has adopted the cardinals. Don’t know how it happened, but this is a Cardinals town suddenly. Game 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not going to lie

When Freese was down to his last strike against Feliz, I had little doubt about the outcome. Even when he hit that ball, I thought Cruz would catch it for sure.

When Hamilton hit that HR, I thought there was no way the Cards come back to tie it, they don’t have another one in them.

When Berkman was down to his last strike, I thought for sure that was it.

Moral of the story – Unless the Rangers do the Double Tap on the Zombie Cardinals, never, ever, count them out.

this is probably on the wrong thread but I'm getting SBN'd like nuts

a cubs fan just called in to the DP show and asked if Colby Lewis was cheating — he said his ballcap was “glistening” with moisture and he kept going to it.

would've.
