he mentions Radagast in passing, and the other two don’t figure into anything else he wrote. I think the excuse is they’re in other parts of the world that don’t come into the stories.

Chicago fans are too deluded and stupidly prideful to
accept what it would take to make the Cubs a successful franchise—ie blowing it entirely up and sucking really, really horribly for a few years. Maybe that will change with someone like Theo at the helm, but for now, most Cubs fans I know would rather pay homage to the idea of competing than accept the idea of admitting and accepting rank suckitude in the name of future success. It’s the most short-sighted nonsense in the world, and is particularly funny because they wouldn’t be that much worse than they usually are if they just blew it up, but Cubs fans can’t seem to stomach that capitulation. They thrive on April optimism, which every year blinds them anew to the eventual summer depression they’ll be mired in.

Sources have recently focused on Texas as a possible landing spot for Albert Pujols. Recent rumors have centered on a blockbuster sign and trade with St Louis that would send Endy Chavez back to the state where he made his major league debut as a precocious young player with the Royals. Recently, Ron Washington and Albert Pujols have been seen discussing strategy and pinochle, heightening the likelihood that this great marriage of minds will come to fruition.

well, if the trade is for a type A free agent
the team that ends up with the guy could send players over instead of losing a draft pick. That seems like the only reason it would ever happen.
What is Corey Patterson doing in Tyler Greene's spot on the 25-man roster?
There is also a rule I think about a traded player being able to opt out of their contract

Billy Ripken giving the breakdown
I think they’re more evenly matched than my co-idiots
Leadoff to Texas (Kinsler vs Furcal)
Middle of Order to Draw
Rotation to Draw
Bullpen to Draw (Both bullpens pitched the same number of innings.)
Closer to Draw
Defense to Texas (Being an All-Star makes Young a great glove first baseman.)
Bench to St. Louis (TLR’s lineup roulette helps.)
Manager to St. Louis (HFA gives TLR the edge.)

Elation. Sadness. Mayhem. Champagne. Sleepless fury. Never been a night like it. - Joe Posnanski
It is October in St. Louis, and there is baseball to be played. - Red Baron
Ripken Minor is such an ass,
but he did pick the Cards to win in 7.

For me, yes, for the occasional truffle among the turds.
But I don’t get FSM, so I have to substitute it with something.

Yeah. I love it during the season.
The cut in and outs of a night’s games rocks.
Plus their hour long highlight show of the previous day is better than sitting through spring/summer football talk to see the non Boston/NYY highlights.

Carp’s elbow is fine.
He explains #HappyFlight. Credits Furcal. Talks about the squirrel, which leads to a Millar rant. Wainwright counters with the Rally Monkey.
Review of 2006.
Shows Millar the curveball grip.

I had very little notice. Like 9:30pm tonight.
I’m very sensitive to additional pumping and it could lead to a painful, potentially explosive situation in public for many hours. Which could lead to mastitis. Plus, the increased production leads to too much foremilk which gives her painful gas. Too much foremilk also causes too many feedings b/c she never gets to the fatty hindmilk. Thus, the overproduction cycle continues. It’s a very tricky balancing act for us. We were stuck in an overproduction loop for like two weeks and it sucked for both of us.
Oh well. My jackass dad didn’t take my mom in ‘82, so she’s finally getting a chance to go. Josh is so loyal I had to argue with him to convince him to go without me.
I’m making the right choice; I just can’t believe I’m not going after not getting to in ’04 (I had game 5 tickets).

you are making me very happy and thankful for Neosure
that really sounds like no fun even if it is better for them.
I’ve never been close to going so I can feel your pain.

LoMo!!!
Because of the momentum St. Louis created while the Braves swooned, Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison is picking the Cardinals, especially after they beat the heavily-favored Phillies.
“They’ve got a little magic with them,” Morrison said. “They’re just hot. They’re not making many mistakes. [Albert] Pujols is getting hot, and that’s all you need to win games. They’re fun to watch right now.”
