Theriot rolling the ball? May or June, I think. He kicked a grounder w/ a man on first, and couldn’t manage to get a handle on the ball, and ended up literally rolling the ball to I think Schumaker. Somebody else will remember….pitchforks were sharpened and torches were lit.

I thought he was terrible...

Part of the reason for the early offense was he wasn’t calling strikes in or low. Salas really got jobbed I thought.

Then about the 6th inning (whenever Saito came in) he changed it, making it wider.

popped over to Lone Star Ball

Had never seen that Berkman said, regarding the Rangers:

“I felt like if they didn’t re-sign Cliff Lee that they were going to be an average team and I feel that’s probably what’s going to end up happening,” Berkman said Thursday. “It’s all about your pitching. I feel like last year was one of those special years where you kind of catch lightning in a bottle and they got hot and they had some guys that I felt like were pitching better than their talent level and consequently they had a great year.”

“They were itching to spend some money,” Berkman said. “I probably could have gotten the best deal out of them, especially in light of what they gave Adrian Beltre, which I think is pretty much of a reach for him.”

hooboy. we’re gonna be hearing about those.

well, to be fair

there a lot of quotes about Berkman from the same time period that sound pretty dumb too. Karmically I think there’s some cancellation.

...what
The Seattle Mariners logo is popular across the length and breadth of the Washington State. The Mariners logo was designed in 1993 and stays in use to date. The previous logos of the team that were used in the past were a commercial failure and attracted critical reviews from baseball pundits.

I hate the current logo. The 70’s logos are pretty righteous.

Man I don't want to go to bed

sifted through lonestarball, they got like 1700 comments on the nlcs thread. they seem to be pretty damn confident, can’t really blame them. also it will be interesting to see how the rangers line up their starters, they usually like to get colby lewis on the road since he’s bronson arroyo lite at home, so he might go game 2.

by Wombat x on Oct 17, 2011 4:11 AM EDT reply actions

I just did the same thing,

they seemed confident but they also didn’t seem to know much about the NL players at all. There was no mention of Holliday and someone made a comment about how they hadn’t heard much about Braun, who I thought got covered more than he does apparently.

Eh, I don't know much about AL players

So I think it’s understandable.

Definitely,

But you know Nelson Cruz, Adrian Beltre, Michael Young, Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler, maybe Napoli. Man, they do have a stacked lineup.

The last time the Cards played the Rangers was the 13th of June, 2004.

Tony Womack, Roger Cedeno, Hector Luna, John Mabry, and Marlon Anderson were all in the starting lineup.

And the Cards won 13-2.

Huh?
The Cardinals’ run has been a great story and nothing would surprise us here, but we’ll go with the St. Louis run ending when it runs into a more talented buzzsaw.

More talented than Philly?
