K-Mac super pissed about being left out of the series.

And so am I. TLR does it again.

I disagree.

Batista was a walking T.E.S.S.
Kmac had a couple bad outings, but if you take him at his word, he was overworked and tired. He’s rested now.
We’re talking about a guy who was a starter for 3 months. He’s one of our top 3 relievers, I would say.

As a reliever, according to tRA+

In 34.4 xIP, McClellan has been 8.9 runs below average. In 28.3 xIP, Batista was 8.2 runs below average.

Seriously, KMac has been really bad as a reliever – Batista-esque bad.

if he's overworked and tired, all the more reason why he needs rest.

when the reports are “dead arm”, it’s not like that will magically turn around. he has had a history of wearing down even as a reliever.

would've.

I guess I would take the guy at his word. According to him, he was overworked and tired.

I believe that has been fixed by him getting his rest. I disagree with your idea that “dead arm” is a permanent condition.

of course it's not a permanent condition. I didn't say that.

however, the postseason only goes a week at a time.

That's true, and he can get another shot in the NLCS.

my comment was about your saying “dead arm” can’t magically turn around. I’m saying he probably just needed some rest. For the last four weeks, the whole bullpen was running on fumes. They really saved it for the team. Albert and Matt need to buy them all a beer when this thing is done.

yeah, but your original comment is he's being left out of the series.

the NLDS.

however, I will leave it to others who have been pointing out

that K-Mac is not actually that good.

the dead arm diagnosis came out *yesterday*

the first game is tonight.
In September, K-Mac has pitched on the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 16th, 17th, 20th, 23rd, and the 26th. (10 earned runs in that time.)

are you suggesting in the next four days he’ll be fine?

would've.

He's pitched only 3 times in the last ten days then. He's ready to blast.

And he’s a better option than both Salas and Dotel, IMO. And don’t even get me started on Awful Rhodes.

KMac has never been "ready to blast" in his life.

RHPs like Kmac who throw high 80s and who can’t strike anyone are not good. Salas has been so much better than KMac it’s not even close.

Sometimes making roster choices leads to hurt feelings. He’s the last guy in the pen (rightfully so) and he got left out. Sucks for him.

Honestly, if it weren’t for Sanchez’s and Lynn’s injuries, he wouldn’t have pitched at all in the second half.

it's not like they can't bring him back

if we get past Philly.

k-mac has never really been a good reliever, and has been dreadful this year.

of course.
@BJRains If Cardinals keep 11 pitchers and 14 position players as expected, looks like final spot could come down to Chambers or Patterson.

Why does he bring up Chambers?

ARe they putting someone on the DL that allows them to bring Chambers?

by sdrone on Oct 1, 2011 10:51 AM EDT up reply actions

Waino already on DL

Allows them to swap out Wainwright for Chambers.

Sanchez being left out is more understandable.

He was throwing filth in Houston. But that’s one game, for a guy that’s been out since the last American shuttle landed.
