Yes, I was wondering how the weather was in St. Loo
We aren’t supposed to get “bad” weather until tonight at the earliest, but it’s already started misting and it’s very cold.
Bring it on. We got the generator full of gas and the garage is full of firewood.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS.
…ARCTIC COLD FRONT TO ARRIVE TUESDAY WITH WINTRY PRECIPITATION
POSSIBLE FRIDAY…
.DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT
HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED.
.DAYS TWO…TUESDAY
IT IS GOING TO GET COLD, Y’ALL.
.DAYS THREE THROUGH FIVE…WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
AN ARCTIC AIRMASS WILL BE IN PLACE WHICH WILL HOLD MINIMUM
TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT AND INTO THE MORNING IN THE 20S FOR MUCH
OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS. NORTHERLY WINDS AND CLOUD COVER WILL LIMIT
DAY TIME HEATING WITH MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES POSSIBLY REACHING THE
UPPER 30S TO NEAR 40. RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PROTECT LIFE
AND PROPERTY SENSITIVE TO PROLONGED FREEZING TEMPERATURES.
AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE OVER SOUTHEAST
TEXAS FRIDAY. THIS MAY SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF WINTRY
PRECIPITATION IN THE FORM OF SNOW OR POSSIBLY SOME SLEET ALONG
THE COAST. THE FROZEN PRECIPITATION LARGELY DEPENDS ON THE TIMING
OF THIS DISTURBANCE WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF TEMPERATURE AND
MOISTURE PROFILES. METEOROLOGISTS WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS
TIME FRAME FOR WINTER PRECIPITATION. RESIDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO
MONITOR FORECASTS FOR CHANGES AND UPDATES TO THE POSSIBLE WINTER
PRECIPITATION EVENT.

There are many people here who have not recovered from the great ice storm of '07.

Yes he is.
He’s also getting me apples, oranges and frozen strawberries.
If you don't want my foot on your throat, I'll need to hear the safe word.
I've never read anything like this in a weather report.
The last sentence is the kicker. Perfect for a sig.
* TRAVEL… ROAD CONDITIONS WILL RAPIDLY DETERIORATE DURING THE MID TO LATE AFTERNOON AS SNOW DEVELOPS FROM SOUTH TO NORTH ACROSS THE AREA. TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BECOME TREACHEROUS BY LATE AFTERNOON… AND DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS BY EARLY EVENING AS WINDS INCREASE RESULTING IN WHITE OUT CONDITIONS. SNOWFALL RATES WILL BE SO INTENSE AT TIMES THAT ROAD CREWS MAY BE UNABLE TO KEEP PRIMARY ROADS AND HIGHWAYS CLEARED. UNNECESSARY TRAVEL SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING AS MORE THAN HALF OF THE FATALITIES IN PREVIOUS ILLINOIS BLIZZARDS HAVE OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. BEFORE MAKING THE DECISION TO TRAVEL… CONSIDER IF GETTING TO YOUR DESTINATION IS WORTH PUTTING YOUR LIFE AT RISK.
Life is tough, but it's tougher if you're stupid.

Is it March 31st yet?
here in so. colo
there was supposed to be a high of -1 today, but it’s already 2 (woot!). However, by Friday, it’s supposed to be 55, thus reinforcing the old saw, in Colorado, if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes (or 72 hours).

I think essentially every part of the country that isn't San Diego claims it as their own
I’ve heard repeatedly it everywhere I’ve lived, from the Rockies to Missouri to Texas to Indiana to Pennsylvania. And I’ve heard someone say it about most other parts of the country as well.

Like 95% of flights cancelled
by FlimtotheFlam on Feb 1, 2011 3:18 PM EST up reply actions
because of the airlines.
there are reporters physically at the airport, and the biggest problem they have is whether the sleet will eventually break one of the windows by the arched roof.
the airlines are not allowed to tell you they canceled your flight because the airport is closed, when it’s actually open.

Are they really?
I didn’t think they were liable if the delay/cancellation is due to weather, only if it’s something under their control like mechanical problems or pilot strikes. But I’m not positive.

Typical southern overreaction
It (finally) started snowing, and not that awful hard, around 2:15 so at 2:30 they announce campus is closing at 3:00. By 3:00 it had stopped snowing, the roads are completely clear and there is the slightest dusting on the ground.
In Tulsa, OTOH, my daughter reports that snow is up to her knees and the condensation on the inside of her apt windows is freezing.
About the windows freezing
Mine are fine in Kirksville, but I have a shovel under one of my windows collecting snow that is blowing in through cracks I didn’t know existed. Have to dump it in the bath tub every 15 minutes or so right now. Sigh
Still haven't figured how I am going to kill everyone who has used the terms Snowpocalypse & Snowmaggedon

unfortunately, i had a class at nine. however, that same professor has that same class at 10:30, which he did not have today. because he wants to keep them both on the same track, he canceled our section on thursday, meaning i don’t have class again until friday morning. it’s currently friday night for me.

* TRAVEL… LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORT THAT NEARLY EVERY ROADWAY IS IMPASSABLE AND IN MANY CASES CLOSED. A STATE OF EMERGENCY HAS BEEN DECLARED AND LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS ARE PLEADING FOR PEOPLE TO STAY HOME AND OFF ROADWAYS. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS OF CARS OFF ROADWAYS AND PEOPLE STRANDED AND THE EXTREME CONDITIONS ARE MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR RESCUE PERSONAL TO REACH THE STRANDED. VISIBILITIES ARE SO POOR IN OPEN AREAS THAT MOTORISTS COULD BECOME DISORIENTED AND UNABLE TO EVEN SEE BEYOND THE HOOD OF THEIR CARS. BEFORE CONSIDERING GETTING ON THE ROADS THIS MORNING… ASK YOURSELF IF GETTING TO YOUR DESTINATION IS WORTH RISKING YOUR LIFE. CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY SLOWLY IMPROVE LATER THIS MORNING INTO THE AFTERNOON AS WINDS SUBSIDE AND SNOW ENDS… BUT UNTIL THEN… DO NOT TRAVEL!
