Just in time for my weekend at the beach
THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS.

…ARCTIC COLD FRONT TO ARRIVE TUESDAY WITH WINTRY PRECIPITATION
POSSIBLE FRIDAY…

.DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT

HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED.

.DAYS TWO…TUESDAY

IT IS GOING TO GET COLD, Y’ALL.

.DAYS THREE THROUGH FIVE…WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

AN ARCTIC AIRMASS WILL BE IN PLACE WHICH WILL HOLD MINIMUM
TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT AND INTO THE MORNING IN THE 20S FOR MUCH
OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS. NORTHERLY WINDS AND CLOUD COVER WILL LIMIT
DAY TIME HEATING WITH MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES POSSIBLY REACHING THE
UPPER 30S TO NEAR 40. RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PROTECT LIFE
AND PROPERTY SENSITIVE TO PROLONGED FREEZING TEMPERATURES.

AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE OVER SOUTHEAST
TEXAS FRIDAY. THIS MAY SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF WINTRY
PRECIPITATION IN THE FORM OF SNOW OR POSSIBLY SOME SLEET ALONG
THE COAST.
THE FROZEN PRECIPITATION LARGELY DEPENDS ON THE TIMING
OF THIS DISTURBANCE WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF TEMPERATURE AND
MOISTURE PROFILES. METEOROLOGISTS WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS
TIME FRAME FOR WINTER PRECIPITATION. RESIDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO
MONITOR FORECASTS FOR CHANGES AND UPDATES TO THE POSSIBLE WINTER
PRECIPITATION EVENT.

The last sentence is the kicker. Perfect for a sig.

* TRAVEL… ROAD CONDITIONS WILL RAPIDLY DETERIORATE DURING THE MID TO LATE AFTERNOON AS SNOW DEVELOPS FROM SOUTH TO NORTH ACROSS THE AREA. TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BECOME TREACHEROUS BY LATE AFTERNOON… AND DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS BY EARLY EVENING AS WINDS INCREASE RESULTING IN WHITE OUT CONDITIONS. SNOWFALL RATES WILL BE SO INTENSE AT TIMES THAT ROAD CREWS MAY BE UNABLE TO KEEP PRIMARY ROADS AND HIGHWAYS CLEARED. UNNECESSARY TRAVEL SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING AS MORE THAN HALF OF THE FATALITIES IN PREVIOUS ILLINOIS BLIZZARDS HAVE OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. BEFORE MAKING THE DECISION TO TRAVEL… CONSIDER IF GETTING TO YOUR DESTINATION IS WORTH PUTTING YOUR LIFE AT RISK.

Typical southern overreaction

It (finally) started snowing, and not that awful hard, around 2:15 so at 2:30 they announce campus is closing at 3:00. By 3:00 it had stopped snowing, the roads are completely clear and there is the slightest dusting on the ground.
