Seriously, Rasmus' double was like an inch away from a homer
And Pujols drive was 380 feet. This is really pissing me off.
"Allowed a 1 out double, took care of Pujols and Holliday"
More like allowed a double that was an inch away from a homer than a deep drive from Pujols. Dominating!

he cleaned up his interview skills after the first few last year
pretty articulate for a young kid. Besides, mellow Texan accent seems more intelligible to my ears.
He did explain the absence as working on some stuff, but then hurried to reassure that the elbow was fine, it was a little sore after some curveballs.
At which point I felt a little ill.
But otherwise, I was impressed. He was all business — he’s got to get the work done at his level, big honor to go to the Futures Game, and last but not least, the pro game is a grind and it’s like showing up to work to get the job done.

A highball glass full of bourbon is not a “cocktail.”
"We were men - flesh and blood - and we played baseball in the sunshine. We hit doubles off the wall, slid hard into second base. We had fights, and we made love. We sang songs and prayed on Sundays. . . . We felt pain. And we felt joy. There was a lot wrong with the world. But we weren't sad, man. We had the times of our lives." no. its hard to convince some people that a run saved on D is equal to
a run produced on O. Don’t tell me we now have to contend with people asserting that a run produced on O is worth less than a run saved on D.

ive been holding on to the positive all year....
Oh its just a couple games back, albert will start bein albert, our injured guys will come back, the reds will regress, carp will be ok, mozeliak will get us help, the offense will turn it around, eveyone will eventually start hitting better as a team, our luck will turn around in some of these close games, we can’t keep gettin shutout, eventually we will sweep a series (or even win 3 straight)…….it goes on and on and right when we seem to maybe be turning the corner on one thing we fall right back down or another issue pops up. We just don’t look like a very good team. We had a nice start to the season and since then have just been a below avg team. We have been decent at home winning series against bad teams (usually) and then rly bad on the road. We seem to play good teams close but always end up blowing or loosing the game. I really feel like its a miracle we r even 5 games over .500. Cardinals r lucky thy aren’t completely out of it and could easily still make a run. There’s still a lot of games left. But right now I just can’t say the cardinals look like a team that is capable of making a run or turning it around, I really don’t expect that they will. Ppl will prob think I’m overreacting but the cardinals keep digging themselves in an even deeper hole and the issues keep piling up. Everyones been talkin about the attitude of the team being different, and I agree. they just don’t seem to play with any passion, esp on the road. And also like it was mentioned before, last years team was able to pull of 4-5 game winning streaks or take 7 of 9. This years team has not shown they can do that.

I'm convinced
that you could put one defender anywhere in the infield, put a runner on first and less than two out, and Molina would find a way to GIDP
You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the goddamn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all.

It is an illusion he isn't actually any good
I have it on very good authority
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
Ubaldo continues to succeed with non-elite peripherals
Watching him pitch for the first time in detail, he does not have good command at all. I stand by my assessment that he is getting lucky.
better to be lucky at 98 mph than good
Blaine Matthew Burns: Albert Pujols' biggest fan (his first words will for sure be "Albert Pujols is RIDICULOUS")
for the record this is not dominant Ubaldo you are facing

Well hopefully these two get to meet again in Late Sep/ Early Oct

go watch a replay of Doc’s perfect game
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
If you accept that Jimenez is getting lucky, I don't see why we should be praising him
Did he do something special to deserve such a low ERA? He’s pitched as well this year as about 20 other pitchers who aren’t being talked about as the best in baseball. Why is his good luck in any way impressive?
because of his 30ERs this year
17 came in the three games leading up to this one, he has a 1.23 road era and a sub 1 road WHIP
You saw today how an elite pitcher can have a bad day really quick at Coors.
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
there are 20 pitchers with a 1.23 road ERA?
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
are you saying that other pitchers such as
Halladay or Johnson are not getting lucky?
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
I'm saying they are getting less lucky than Jimenez
And that they are pitching better than him overall.
Not really
18 BIP, 3 hits. .167 BABIP. And he’s allowed as many balls in the air as ground balls. We’ve definitely had a few hard hit balls right at people, not to mention the Colby shot in the first.

if and buts man
three of the best hitters in baseball in the 2,3,4 spots today they had no problem mashing the average pitchers they faced the last two days
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
Again, so...?
I agree Jimenez is better than fucking Cook, I don’t agree he is anywhere near the best pitcher in the league.
Yeah
I’m taking Strasburg over Jimenez. Better curveball, better command, even more velo for good measure.
Not afraid to nitpick
If someone forced you to give Ubaldo his due
your head would explode
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
I mean seriously, by all accounts Jaime Garcia has pitched just as well as Ubaldo this year in terms of results
Their peripherals are similar. Ubaldo is slightly better across the board. Do you hear anyone felating Jaime as the best pitcher in the game? Can you explain this to me?
[cautiously]
are you talking to yourself?
Lick that shoulder—you're in the doghouse now.
"But listen, and understand: more Molinas are out there..." - THT
loudly
and as far as I can tell Doc and Strasburg get the Uptons from the media
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
There have been many more fluff peices on Jimenez this year
Strasburg get’s hyped on his potential, which is deserving. Jimenez gets hype as being in his own class in comparison to the rest of the league, which is not deserving.
maybe you watch different stuff than I do but
considering you have a 26 old ace with a no-hitter and a low 2 ERA in an extreme hitters park I could see why people would talk.
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
The no hitter doesn't mean anything
Dallas Braden had a perfect game FFS. It’s just a small sample size oddity, and he got incredibly lucky in that game. Just like he has been all season, which is my point.
Again, why no hype for Jaime? You have a 23 year old rookie with a low 2’s ERA. Or why no hype for Wainwright, who has a career ERA just over 3?
It’s because Jimenez throws hard and has a good W/L record. You think the hype would be the same if he had Jaime’s record?
The 99MPH fastball is
like the Dinger it attracts a lot of attention otherwise why would I know Zumaya’s name.
I love Garcia and think he is having an amazing year, the Rockies announcers on radio at least went on and on about his start.
Most of your attacks on Ubaldo seem a lot like people saying the Beatles really weren’t that good
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
My attacks on Jimenez is that he has not pitched as well as his results and he has not pitched as well as the hype he gets
That’s what I’ve been saying for about a month now and people keep trying to justify the hype (and sometimes the results).
I think it's more like saying oasis isn't the beatles
He just hasn’t put up historically great pitcher peripherals yet. He’s excellent, but he’s not yet proven himself to be transcendent.

I was at this game vs. Cincy earlier this year, Walters got ripped for 7 runs in 3IP. Cards fought back but then reyes gave it right back to them. The next inning we had a guy on 3rd with 1 out. Pitcher spot up, AC/DC back in black comes on…‘Pinch hitting: AARON MILES!!!!’ The Crowd fucking ROARS! My friend looks at me, “he got called up are you kidding me”, I respond “yea we need a sac fly y would he be hitting here anyway?”….my friend, “why is the hell is evryone cheering?”…..“Don’t know”
….Miles pops out to 2nd and we end up loosing the game. I didn’t know what to be more surprised by, the fact that Miles was actually batting for your 2010 Cardinals or the fact that he got the loudest cheer/biggest ovation I had heard/seen all year (and I’ve been to a lot of games)

Nick Stavinoha, Professional Hitter: .668 OPS in 88 PA
Also, would it be better to just tell Yadi not to swing at a single pitch if he comes up with a runner on first and less than two outs?
This was the most I have been able to see Jay
he really is an impressive defender, and has a grip it and rip it type swing if he is a 4th outfielder he is a damn good one
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
he's a good defender
just don’t know if he’ll hit enough to play a corner, and colby kind of has center locked up. he’s more valuable of course in center where he doesn’t need to hit as well, so he could definitely be a trade chip. i saw his single and double today, and both were a bit lucky – a bloop and a hard grounder to short that goes as a double in the book.
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
yeah but a plus defender with some power would be ideal
for someone like Atl, or LAD for that matter he is probably a better hitter than most of SD OF as well
Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students
some power, not much
yeah, he’d fit san diego well, but probably somebody more for next year for them than this – i assume if they trade for an outfielder for the pennant race it will be at least a dejesus, which is likely jay’s upside.
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
Fixed.
Also, would it be better to just tell Yadi not to swing at a single pitch if he comes up with a runner on first and less than two outs?
He’s probably thisclose to being able to make an out without a pitch.

i'm stepping away for awhile
i’m sick of tlr doing what he’s been doing. until i see tony actually try to manage a game well and we get going again, i’m not watching this team. so long for now.
Albert's grand slam, 7/3/09
Waino's CG, 7/4/10
@zoomzoomj88
Jeff Passan is an asshat
Tired of the yearly TESS. I blame Tony.
Hey Everyone, long time no post and things have been really depressing
We get swept out of Colorado in the most depressing way possible and now we go to Houston who swept us at home back when we were good and the last two games we have Suppan and Hawksworth going. We do have Waino starting the first game but that one is less about who we have starting . . .
In better news I love my new house and the wedding planning is going well.

"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
here we go
phils get one in bottom 8 to take the 3-2 lead. votto singles and rolen walks to lead off 9th off lidge. bruce just hits into dp, votto on third, cairo up.
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
cairo doubles, 3-3
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
Phillies take lead in bottom of 8th
Then Lidge blows it in top of 9th, giving up RBI double to FUCKING MIGUEL CAIRO
Jesus Christ
the real mind-blower was kendrick leaving home plate to go after the ball
when stubbs scored from second.

Hmmm, I feel like a jerk for some reason.
I just don’t feel sorry at all for Cleveland, I don’t like their fans at all. Maybe I am just biased from watching them cheer after Anderson got injured for the Browns, but I could give a crap if they are cursed and the only thing keeping their basketball team there just left personally.

I had a bacon burger today, made it myself
-whole wheat buns (toasted)
-spicy mustard
-red leaf lettuce
-red tommato
-haas avacado
-sirloin meat
-three strips of bacon
sounds good
that avocado is questionable, though. practicing for the sandwich truck?
