is it too much to ask for someone to teach carp to hit a little bit?
i don’t care if it’s the neighborhood gang or tony rasmus or whoever
please
you could take a reasonably in-shape 20-30 y/o male at random from the stands
and he would hit about as well as Carp does.
how is that even possible
he’s been playing baseball forever
you’d thing somewhere along the way he would have picked it up. accidentally even
if he could hit a puck, he should be able to get a piece of a baseball
right? right?
I could be plus carp on the stat chart for 20-30 y/o random males.

f'in pitcher 8 again
if this was the best offensive approach
how come he doesn’t do it all the time
makes no f’in sense
I may be in a rut, but at least I know where I'm going

it doesn't really make that much of a difference, really
the benefit from hitting the pitcher 8th is marginal over the course of a season.
if there is a marginal advantage
why doesn’t everyone go for that advantage?
I may be in a rut, but at least I know where I'm going
b/c the same reason everybody cites batting average and pitcher W-L records
cause it’s been done that way for so long that everybody is uncomfortable doing it any other way, unless they’ve got the stature of a guy like La Russa.
Ned Yost was doing it for a while when he managed the Brewers, and I think there have been some other managers that have tinkered it with it occasionally.
Thanks FSN, I didnt need to watch the first pitch of the inning...

Offense is offensive
The Cards have now scored 2 runs in their last 24 innings. if this were an isolated case no big deal. but they’ve been pulling this crap all year. All the possible trade talk is about pitching; sorry you have to score some runs too.
they score runs in bunches
it’s aces and spaces with this team. In the long run the averages look okay, but you worry about their chances in October when they don’t seem to be able to hit the switch and string together hits.

He got fired as a scapegoat.
They were one of the best offenses in 2009 and 2008, and the Phillies needed someone to take the fall for their disappointing start. They don’t have Utley and a host of other people, and that’s Thompson’s fault? Give me a break. Amaro Jr. is a horrible GM.
