last night's game was AWESOME!
classic example of Matt Holliday “providing protection” for Pujols???
"Did you just grow a mustache?"
"While SPINNING."
by hitting a 2 run HR after albert gets out
and then having a run scoring double?
this thread is all Aaron Mile's fault.
not good enough - you see, only one of those hits came with RISP.
in fact, without looking it up or checking or anything, I feel confident that he went 2-for-6, and all of those outs MUST have come with RISP. therefore it’s obvious that holliday just can’t provide the needed protection. DFA
אנא טוני לא יותר ט.א.ס.ס
i was thinking of albert's go ahead single.
espn was obsessed with “why would you pitch to pujols there?” matt holliday has to be the answer, right?
"Did you just grow a mustache?"
"While SPINNING."
Or Pujols struggling
I would say that it’s because an IBB is almost never a good move, but I know Jerry Manuel’s not that smart
Of all sad words of tongue or pen; the saddest are these: 'It might have been!'
Manuel said so in after-game interview.
"They punched me a lot," Holliday said of the celebration [after his July 18 walk-off single]. "But they were good punches."
okay so i didn't realize there was a post today below this game thread. oh well. lineup:
Lopez 3B
Jay CF
Pujols 1B
Holliday LF
Ludwick RF
Schumaker 2B
Molina C
Hawksworth P
Greene SS
This is not bad…but why are we still batting the pitcher 8th when holliday and RFL are in this lineup?
"Did you just grow a mustache?"
"While SPINNING."
Oh fuck.....
a knuckle baller? This offense is screwed up enough as it is.
Asshattery: it's an epidemic.
Also, Dave Concepcion.
But he's a "good" knuckle baller, so we should tag him

No, he was on deck once,
but didn’t bat. Second AB, Jay was thrown out at the plate on a WP.
Asshattery: it's an epidemic.
Also, Dave Concepcion.
Well, with Oswalt out of the question entirely,
Haren traded last week, Tejada unlikely—all of which I’m glad of, seeing as it would take entirely too much value to have traded for any of those three—what move can we realistically expect the Cardinals to make? It seems as though they have to do something to win this division as it stands right now.
I’m kind of scared though: I’m not sure I trust Mozeliak right now to do something smart with La Russa whispering in his ear to resign Mark Mulder.
But Uggla, Hill, Bartlett, etc., have the same problem (in my estimation) as the other triumvirate of potentials—they would cost a lot, and with our farm system the way it is they would probably cost major league talent.
Thoughts?

I will miss Ryan's defense.
He has been very good.
"I told myself from the very beginning: 'If he's going to throw a shutout, then he's going to tie,'" Wainwright said. "He was not going to beat me today."
I'm afraid
Colby and his Dad are gettting royally ticked and are maybe thinking this would be a prime time to get moved somewhere else because of Mo’s want to get an impact player. I. will. kill. T.L.R… if this happens
Tony sitting Colby
… and him stuggling lately. TLR is falling in love with Jay, I know Mo would never want to trade Colby. We all know Colby’s Dad to be a bit of a wildcard, and he is very influential on Colby. I don’t know, the timing of all of this just scares me. Probably will never happen, but this whole season just feels like Tony will do everything in his power to ruin this season and beyond with his bullshit favoritism and overmanaging. I love TLR, but this season proves to me it’s just time to go in a different managerial direction. This Colby thing is WEIRD, unless he’s actually hurt.
On the TV last night
They were saying that Colby went to rub Jay’s bat before he hit. He was joking with TLR about it. It didn’t sound like there was a problem
"I told myself from the very beginning: 'If he's going to throw a shutout, then he's going to tie,'" Wainwright said. "He was not going to beat me today."
Yeah, I had been wondering if Colby was in the dog house or something
Straussie implied he was. And we know how he likes to start trouble.
"I told myself from the very beginning: 'If he's going to throw a shutout, then he's going to tie,'" Wainwright said. "He was not going to beat me today."
