VEB Day - Decision Time

So we are about a week and a half away from VEB Day v3.0. Thus it is probably past time that I got this fanpost up so that we can decide where we are going to meet up before the game and what we might want to do after. In the last fanpost we voted on the meeting place and 3 places came up with approximately equal results. Therefore, I am going to repost the poll with those 3 options to see if we can get a consensus. With the game starting at 6:15 I figured that we would probably want to make the meeting time around 4-4:30. The poll will be open for voting till Monday 6/14 at 11p.

As for postgame activities, we can either organize it now in this fanpost or we can discuss it when we get together at the game.

See you soon!

When are you leaving Chicago?

Are you carpooling with other VEBers, I’ve been looking at taking megabus to stl, but I’m not entirely sure it is feasible as of right now.

I think I'm just gonna take the train from Milwaukee to St. Louis

Only 33 bucks or so. Not a bad deal so don’t worry about me.

but I’ll defer to regular St. Louisans for the best place.

So is JBucks the final decision?

Are we meeting there after 4 on Saturday?

Think; It's not illegal yet.

by azruavatar on Jun 17, 2010 7:53 AM EDT reply actions

Ok.

Looks like JBucks wins and that is good since I’m sure all ages are welcome there. I will see if we can get some space set aside for us. Let’s plan on meeting anytime after 4p. I should be there by 4p. I’ll be wearing my “Respect the Stache” t-shirt so that I will be easily identified.

So there is this shuttle

the “Green Bus” that I think I talked about in the first VEB Day thread. Anyway, this shuttle picks up at 7th & Market and for like $1-2 each, you get 1- beer and 2- a ride to the Washington Avenue loft district, which is a pretty easy walk to the Tap Room…probably 5-6 blocks, tops.

Just FYI…not sure how long I’ll be out after the game, but thought I’d pass along the transportation info in case anyone’s interested. Of course, cabs are also an option, but not a very good one here.

See you folks in a few hours!

The Wash Ave area where the dude drops off is very close to Ozzie’s, which someone suggested for a bite.

Thanks to everyone

I had a great time. Cards record on VEB Day is now 3-0.

The only thing I wanna know is

who was the assclown who insisted on doing The Wave like 47 times?!?!?!

Good seeing/meeting everyone. And thanks again to indakind for organizing. And to think that we didn’t even need his mustache for a W this year!

by goodymobb on Jun 21, 2010 9:10 AM EDT reply actions

You're welcome

Although I insist that I didn’t do much. Mustache or no VEB Day is powerful karma apparently.

You did plenty...starting with fronting a shit-ton of cash.

And also, I want to reiterate what spants said in the post for VEB Day: There really isn’t any excuse why the Saint Louis contingent of VEB can’t get together more than once a year.

I mean, just because you met someone on the internet doesn’t mean you can’t take it "to the next level, right? Or does that make it creepy (and by “creepy,” I mean “creepier than 20- and 30-somethings introducing themselves by some sort of internet code names”)?

Hopefully we can put something together for the local folks sometime sooner rather than later.

good to meet you all, by the way. i still need to head back to tap room to pick up my debit card. in my drunken stupor, i left without closing my tab.

so now the last two games I've seen include Holliday home runs

and both VEB Days I’ve attended. Good to hang out with y’all, had a great time. That game was insanely fast though, I think we thought it was like the 6th inning and it was already the 8th.

oh, and Jason Motte! what a great feeling having everyone standing at the end of the game cheering him on with his 98-100mph fastball, mowing ’em down.
