Game 65 Overflow Thread
A pair of homeruns from the Cardinals best two offensive players. Despite an abbreviated and somewhat labored start from Jeff Suppan, this seems like a game the Cardinals' bullpen should certainly be able to hold onto. 4-1 Cardinals in the 7th.

i'm at the point of trusting Franklin again

Well, KMac only threw about 9 pitches the previous inning.
With guys having thrown last night, if he can bridge the gap to Franklin, it’d save the pen for tomorrow a bit. It’s workable.
just why not Salas
that’s the only thing i’m confused about.

a ridiculous stat and an odd stat from the mothership
Pujols and Ichiro are also both in the top-five all-time for batting average in Interleague Play. Pujols is first. … Speaking of those two, Monday was the first time in their 10-year careers that they both tallied multi-hit games on the same day. Ichiro went 2-for-4, while Pujols was 3-for-3. The other time was May 5, 2001.

maybe someone can calculate the odds on that happening
i was prepared to use it to blow minds.
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
if they want to
Albert has 518 career multihit games
Ichiro has 653 career multihit games
(i think – i used the finders option on b-r, and selected Hits >/= 2, and then the number of matches is the number of multihit games – i don’t know why that wouldn’t work)

nope

good idea though
"He’s in his own world out there. He says he doesn’t cuss. I disagree." - Skip Schumaker on Jason Motte

what would be the odds of that?
it’s not like they each have only a couple multiple hit games a season, and we’re also talking ten years. they must have 40 or so multi-hit games a year apiece – if that bit of trivia is true, that’s bizarre.

So after this series with the Dodgers...
The Reds will have nearly completed half their home schedule (40 games).
Starting Friday, they will have 54 road games and 41 home games the rest of the way.
For what it's worth...
The Cardinals have 47 road games and 49 home games over that same stretch.
So we essentially have an extra homestand.
And lastly...
The Cardinals’ SOS is currently .500, while the Reds’ SOS stands at .486.
And while the Reds have played one game better than their expected record, the Cardinals have played three games below theirs.
So all of this stuff seems to bode well for the Cardinals going forward.

SC just edited out some home runs.
and only showed Albert’s. which didn’t draw a huge ruckus in the stadium… anti-climactic.

I got some good BOOG
idiosyncricies on video. When he comes out of the dugout, always on the steps farthest from home plate, he runs around the coaches box, then jumps the baseline. Craced me up.
Asshattery: it's an epidemic.
Also, Dave Concepcion.
I would say I have some good Sauce to top that.
except I still can’t find the hardware to empty out my camera. extreme fail.

Wow, those historical comparisons are amazing.
I think that Colby will regress a bit, but it just blows my mind we have a 23 year old centerfielder with a .400 wOBA. Just think when he hits his prime…

yeah
We have a 4G access point that we are RDing right now connecting via 4G. 4.5MB down / 1.5 Up. Nice. Now if the access point just had an ethernet port so I could use it with the hardware currently in-place in our retail locations.
Do you work for Sprint?
If I’m so, I’m surprised you didn’t know about 4G coming sooner. I was told by July 4th by a Radio Shack employee who was told by a Sprint rep.
I can’t connect today, but I was connected several times last week, all from different locations. Pretty sweet.
Regression, bitches.
No I don't work for sprint
I do administrate a network with 3000 remote locations. We do have about 200 locations running off of 3G, and about 20 off of 4G. I was just QAing the new access point because or CEO wanted us to.
:D
I need help looking up something
Can anybody tell me where I can go to look up team batting stats on a day by day basis? I’ve been to Fangraphs and Baseball Reference and I can’t seem to whittle it down past monthly statistics.

Didn’t it seem like Aaron like, really, really wanted to be part of the interview? Or that he was pissed that HE didn’t have his own shirt?
He just always seems like one of those little kids who would try to punch at you but you would just put your hand on his head and keep his tiny, flailing arms at bay.
Also, good lord, this no post thing is killing me today. I at least thought we would see a “Well, I’ve had a weird day, so I’m just gonna do a chat for a few hours”-type post.

prior wasn't drafted by wilken though
wilken was in toronto then, where, incidentally, he was responsible for chris carpenter, who like prior was a no-brainer first-round pick. where the comparison to halladay stems from is the fact that simpson was picked in the first round despite being rated much lower by the rest of the baseball world, same as roy, who was taken in the first round even though being less regarded than simpson, and there was some of the same snickering then, too. (whereas simpson was pegged to go somewhere between rounds 4-7; halladay was expected to go in the 6-10 range).
i have a lot of respect for wilken. he’s not afraid to put his ass on the line and he trusts his own evaluation of talent. that has served both toronto and tampa bay pretty damn well, and so far chicago, where in the few years he’s been with the cubs we’ve already seen castro, cashner, and colvin hit the bigs. tim wilken is probably the most valuable asset the cubs have in the entire organization, and i’m fairly intrigued to see how this simpson kid turns out.

"Did you just grow a mustache?"

oh, and he thinks the club may extend ludwick
‘Lud’ is a free agent only if the Cardinals decline to offer him a contract. Again, I have never embraced the notion of Ludwick’s inevitable departure. His salary is an issue but no one within the organization has suggested the necessity to move or non-tender him. A multi-year extension appears a workable solution. I don’t know what Lud’ would be looking for, but a three-year framework with an option attached would seem responsible for both parties.
music to my ears. since having seen him up close and learning that he’s nice to baristas, he’s my new favorite player.
