I'm starting to miss Troy Glaus
He just hit his 9th HR and drove in RBIs 38,39, and 40. And he’s hitting .278.
Onubon > Gates
Allen Craig
Look on the bright side. If he were in STL, he’d never play. At least now, he gets to keep hitting line drives every time up. Oh, wait…that’s not the bright side.

When asked what role La Russa’s support and open lobbying had in his promotion and his return to the Cardinals, Miles didn’t hesistate: "Huge."
This one’s on you, TLR.

Question for someone with Play Index
Has anyone over the age of 30 ever hit worse than a .466 OPS in >150 PAs and returned to the big leagues the next year?
Not afraid to nitpick
Yes, the best we can look forward to is a poor man's Mike Gallego.
A man who, in his final year, had an OPS+ of 2. Woo!
STILL not quite as bad as Miles was last year
I got Bob Ramazotti who pulled it of in 1949 and saw time in ’50 and Tim Bogar in 98-99.

by thewizard3 on Jun 1, 2010 7:50 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
Skip second is pretty bad.
You ideally want your ‘best’ hitter there…not one of your worst. Ludwick was a pretty reasonable alternative to Holliday/Pujols in that slot. He’s a decent fastball hitter, and saw plenty in front of Albert, I’d assume.

I considered the situation very rationally.
And, after the rational consideration of the situation.
I still only have one question.
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
More rational thinking.
One (or more) of our middle infielders nursing a nagging injury? That’s about only way feasible that this move makes sense. Not much sense, since I’d rather have Greene called back up, but I guess options wasted and all that…. or something.
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??
Rational thinking isn’t doing it for me tonight. I think I’m going to go get very, very drunk.
We wouldn't have wasted an option on Tyler. He's already been up this year.
You can read it in any tone you like.
You aren't helping my rational thinking.
In other news, I found a bottle of vodka that’s still about 80% full. Think I can finish it by end of game?

I like Krukow.

Speaking of Sex in the City 2.....
Story Time!
I have a good friend that works at the local movie theater. There’s a group of 3 of them that cover the ticket area that branches back to the actual theater area. They made a little box out of some paper, and scrawled ‘Man Card Goes Here’ on it. Anytime a guy handed them a ticket for SITC2, they showed them the box, usually generating a laugh.
Well, eventually a friend of ours came in to see the movie with his girlfriend. He held out the box to him, mockingly, and the response?
“At least I’m getting laid tonight. You never will.”
The man card box found its way into the trash can.
Argh!

Jason LaRue’s catcher ERA for this season?
My first memory of Cardinals baseball is seeing Darrell Porter jump into Bruce Sutter's arms on October 20, 1982!
No idea, but catcher ERA has been proven not to mean anything if that's what you were going for

maybe because they catch different pitchers
but if there was enough data to compare catching the same pitchers, it should have some significance

In football, the object is for the quarterback, otherwise known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his recievers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use the shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.

Exactly
after 14 years of Tony, it is relatively easy to predict the future. Like how he’ll get nose flaringly pissed when somebody questions his decision of letting P.J. hit, then replacing him the next half inning before even facing a batter. The answer will be a complete avoidance of the crux of the matter but he’ll be such a jerk, the journalist will be too initimidated to follow-up.
I don't dislike TLR
but you are right however. we have known him long enough that we can prophesy his future moves

I don't really dislike him either
He’s definitely a hall of famer. It just gets old, he’s getting to the stubborn old man phase of his career… at times. He’s the baseball version of Bobby Knight, except he’s too much of a pacifist and won’t ever hit a player to expediate his exit.
I want him to stay while we have really good shots at rings, but as we become even more young (and we will) I think it will be time for new blood. Again, legendary manager, but the sh!t gets old.

that was the one game of the series they actually won, is the really hilarious part of it looking back…..

Injured hand.
In baseball the object is to go home! And to be safe! "I hope I'll be safe at home!"

good evening
I have no idea if there is anyone still on this thread. At any rate, I pick on you as one of the last posters. Your posting time says 3:22 am, but in which time zone I have no idea. My question is, if you followed Tuesday’s game, why were VEBers clamouring for Ryan to plunk Gomes. I searched through the thread, but couldn’t find out why. Just curious. Cheers.

Mostly because he's Johnny Gomes.
