Skip second is pretty bad.

You ideally want your ‘best’ hitter there…not one of your worst. Ludwick was a pretty reasonable alternative to Holliday/Pujols in that slot. He’s a decent fastball hitter, and saw plenty in front of Albert, I’d assume.

Speaking of Sex in the City 2.....

Story Time!

I have a good friend that works at the local movie theater. There’s a group of 3 of them that cover the ticket area that branches back to the actual theater area. They made a little box out of some paper, and scrawled ‘Man Card Goes Here’ on it. Anytime a guy handed them a ticket for SITC2, they showed them the box, usually generating a laugh.

Well, eventually a friend of ours came in to see the movie with his girlfriend. He held out the box to him, mockingly, and the response?

“At least I’m getting laid tonight. You never will.”

The man card box found its way into the trash can.

you know the worst part of the miles thing...

is that he is going to get 1 big hit soon and, in Tony’s mind, that is going to validate him being on the major league roster. it is similar to the one-kneed homeruns of stavinoha (even though I kinda like Dr. Thunder)

Exactly

after 14 years of Tony, it is relatively easy to predict the future. Like how he’ll get nose flaringly pissed when somebody questions his decision of letting P.J. hit, then replacing him the next half inning before even facing a batter. The answer will be a complete avoidance of the crux of the matter but he’ll be such a jerk, the journalist will be too initimidated to follow-up.

I don't really dislike him either

He’s definitely a hall of famer. It just gets old, he’s getting to the stubborn old man phase of his career… at times. He’s the baseball version of Bobby Knight, except he’s too much of a pacifist and won’t ever hit a player to expediate his exit.

I want him to stay while we have really good shots at rings, but as we become even more young (and we will) I think it will be time for new blood. Again, legendary manager, but the sh!t gets old.

I have a friend named Paul Alexander

who is called PJ. Still don’t know why.

In football, the object is for the quarterback, otherwise known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his recievers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use the shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.

In baseball the object is to go home! And to be safe! "I hope I'll be safe at home!"

Injured hand.

I have no idea if there is anyone still on this thread. At any rate, I pick on you as one of the last posters. Your posting time says 3:22 am, but in which time zone I have no idea. My question is, if you followed Tuesday’s game, why were VEBers clamouring for Ryan to plunk Gomes. I searched through the thread, but couldn’t find out why. Just curious. Cheers.

Obviously I didn't search hard enough. Actually, I didn't realize that playing like that would lead to retaliation. Like RiverRat says, I would think that is the way the game is played, including the way TLRs' Cards would play it. Or are we above such things. Didn't Luddy get injured trying to break up a DP, or maybe not the same nature of play?

by kkkkathmandubirdsview on Jun 2, 2010 11:23 AM EDT up reply actions

I think the outcry had as much to do with a VEB dislike of Gomes as it did the actual play.
