or, i have been persuaded, and gone to the other side. i vow to hate umps and post accordingly.

that, or, i shall be doing a thevole. this is actually a tried-and-true method in the world of psychology. mimic until they see it themselves. i am now sharpening my ump-hating knives, and shall carve them accordingly tomorrow.

i will let the viewer judge which is true. in any event, my words shall be in the mainstream.

No, they did a segment on Baseball Tonight about it

The day before and in meetings, he told his teammates that he was having personal issues and needed help and understanding from them to get through this. This is from Wakamatsu’s mouth, by the way

Then during the game, he was so agitated by his K in the 6th that he was pacing beneath the dugout. Don went to go talk to him and told him that he couldn’t quit on his team, but by that time, the inning had already started so Langerhans had to go play the field.

There’s something much deeper going on than just “Bradley quit on the team”

this

bradley is a whiner, there’s always some excuse, it’s someone else’s fault, and if the manager ever lets him back into the dugout he will likely end up being fired. they should just send him to get some psychological counseling.

Hey guys...I'm looking for a little help, and I thought someone here might be able to provide it.

I was hoping someone around these parts could direct me to some articles or research on stolen bases and bunting…well basically “small ball” in general.

I’ve tried a little googling, to no avail. What I’m looking for is why small ball is not as effective as it used to be, if something like that exists. I think I’ve read that a player would have to have a 75-80% success rate to make attempting steals worth while. I think I’ve also seen something that says coaching of pitchers on holding runners and delivering to the plate quicker has made stealing bases much more difficult in today’s game. Basically any research or articles related to this kind of stuff would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and that game sucked and sucked bad.

this is basically what the stock market is based on

crowds are much easier to manipulate than individuals, and most individuals seek a crowd. this is an older book, and deals with the early 18th century, and is also rather thick, but if you would like further enlightenment, this is the book:

yeah. i bookmarked that. i don’t want to get involved tonight (this is my second back-up line. i begin with, “rigamarole is a precursor to rigor mortis”, utilize the law of diminishing returns as my backup, and finally the aforementioned line.

this is probably the most impactful developments of mankind,

the understanding of this phenomenon. be it religion, financial or political gain, warfare, etc. – the strategic ability to draw people together to suit one’s means, be it by bomb, hook, crook, or book. if you can thus control the herd…well, maybe you are moocow.

the phils site tells the tale of the tape:

Kendrick afraid to pitch to Pujols. With good reason. If I were Kendrick I’d be afraid to pitch to anyone.

he can walk the machine all he wants if it means no runs or hrs

What if the bases are loaded
one run is better than 4

you are correct sir

in a nutshell, when happ returns they hope kendrick is gone, and they do not fear hollidaisy – protection is overrated (unless we just have the wrong protector)

i will always have confidence in brett wallace

in one way, it’s a big gamble, and in the other, it’s a big gamble. just depends on how much you willing to bet. and that can be looked at two ways also – the safe bet with big outlay but little payoff, or the longshot with little outlay or big payoff. mo doesn’t gamble with his job, and if they give him the money, he will take the first bet. nobody’s trading templeton for ozzie these days.

whitey was the man

i do not want tony to have that power, don’t get me wrong – two completely different individuals. whitey would have been a lot of fun with this team, though. a lot less nonsense, a lot more excitement – the difference between the card sharp holding four aces and the beginner’s-luck dude.

i hate playing conservative baseball just because you are the better team. yes, we will win a lot of games this year, we have the best team in the league…man, if whitey ever had the best team he’d still play like the underdog every game. and i’m not dissing tony – his in-game management has never been top-notch, but he’s gotten a lot out of a little – can he get a lot out of a lot?

Of course he can get a lot out of a lot.

The man has had stacked lineups and rotations before.

You can read it in any tone you like.

i’d be disappointed if we didn’t go to the series three times with wallace, but only by a few measly million. yeah, i would’ve stuck him in left, and platooned craig with him too. and then next year, i’d have either luddy, craig, or werth in right, depending on how things worked out.

obviously hoping i am wrong on this, but holliday is exactly the guy i do not want up with the game on the line. to me he’s the vasquez of hitters – nice numbers, but yikes, i’m pulling him with the game on the line.

why idiot security personnel should not have tasers

because they have no idea when to use them:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyvrqcxNIFs

sure, everyone standing there watching and meekly protesting is also at fault, they could have easily taken out the idiots, ensuring it wouldn’t happen again, but it is still mostly the idiots and the idiots who gave them the tasers faults.
