well that is essentially what they did
pointed a video camera at the big screen while fespn was live with adam, got a shot of joe leaving out the clubhouse doors, then sent him running past the fespn cameras while they cracked up. then cracked up again when rome couldn’t keep a straight face.

We figure,
if you’re traveling 2000 miles, there’s no reason to skimp on tickets. We have Diamond Box the next night. Haven’t got Wed or Fri yet, and VEB bleachers on Sat. Fly home on Sunday, so we’ll miss the last of the A’s series.

That sounds like a fantastic weekend.
I’m doing something similar in July, but it’s all Redbird Club and it only involves driving, not flying.

i passed the codes on to my friends (VEB sometimers)

didn't
had a few friends who did though, in Chicago (this recruiter was among them). They say it’ll definitely test you, but if you can make it through, its definitely worth it in the end. One of them is applying to Harvard Business basically on the strength of TFA (though he has an impressive resume besides), aside from the personal satisfaction most seem to gain from it. The day to day can be hell at times though, no doubt.
Teaching underprivileged kids is what I want to do for a career.
And more than that I want to teach Early Childhood Special Ed. Sometimes I read stories and just want to cry and I’m not sure how I could make it through days upon days of that but then you realize these kids need someone who at least just wants to try to make it through days upon days with them.

that's what i hear too
my friend did it in DC and she worked in spec. ed, and said it was simultaneously the most challenging but also the most rewarding thing she’s done. i’m more along the lines of i just want to do good in society, get an education while doing so, while opening my eyes to different(and underprivileged) segments of america. i got blessed with a great public education, and it’s a sheepish white liberal guilt(well, not really, but you know what i mean) that is a powerful motivator.

well, i am, in a sense. i have a weird family history of catholicism. my dad was a priest, quit because he’s pro-choice and such, a few years later married my mom and now isn’t very religious. my mom is pretty big into church, but mostly the social justice aspect of catholicism which is where i find that religion appealing(in theory). and myself, well, it’s really difficult to be catholic nowadays with what i believe to be true. and i’m just gonna leave it at that.

I just turned 21 last week
Actually, I figured it out. I’ve been with my now-fiancee for 7 years, and freshman year, I was more concerned with making the relationship work than going out and partying all the time
Now, where we’re more secure with the relationship and the distance, I’m way more free to go out and be an idiot
Of all sad words of tongue or pen; the saddest are these: 'It might have been!'
makes sense man
more power to you on the engagement man, congrats. you’re the guy who got the internship with the M’s right? if so, also congrats.
i think for me, once i figured out how social dynamics work at college, being social and an idiot came naturally.
this year, it’s a mix of being 21, having a good group of people i had classes with/started a student group with, and good roommates. the other years that wasn’t the case necessarily.

But I’ve never gone to a game! It’s a mixture of games being when I have frisbee practice, nobody else going to the game, and us not being very good

but some advice and i mean that nicely
wait with the wedding and all. you guys are yet to find out who you are and who knows if you even like each other then.
i know divorces in the us are easy and quick, but americans tend to jump into marriage way too young
and if you do get married, wait at least a few years to have kids.
i mean that very respectfully, and i believe that you love each other and all but that’s often not enough.
I don't know if you've read the other posts
But we’ve been together 7 years… There aren’t any more surprises haha
I appreciate the advice, but I really do think this is the right time. We’re being smart about it; we’re not having kids until we’re at LEAST 25, and definitely not before we do our Around The World Trip that we’ve been planning for a few years
Of all sad words of tongue or pen; the saddest are these: 'It might have been!'

And what's more, Shannon was right..
If the Moon is just rising in New York, that means it’s not even visible yet in St. Louis.
Besides, local atmospheric conditions play a big role in what the moon looks like. Sometime it looks just huge (like the time Shannon was referring to), because of some sort of atmospheric effect. But that wouldn’t be the case in St. Louis (or anywhere far away).
however, he said "I wish you could see it"

thought that required 3 innings
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
i thought it was one of these three
1. He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning
2. He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, at bat or on deck
3. He pitches for at least three innings
I saw that.
I was referring to Joey Bombs without a shirt.

i'm gonna miss Bobby like crazy
I’m not too sure about Lemke. His name hasn’t been brought up too much by fans, but who knows. I’, really hoping the dumb Marlns FO fires Freddi Gonzalez (our former 3B coach) so he can become our new manager. The Braves have a ton of young Hispanic talent in the minor leagues and I think he’d really help break them into the league.
That’s just me though.

I like the Lohse v Haren Lohse v Halladay
matchups it leaves the other team demoralized if they lose and no real pride in the victory

i think why tony set it up
i likened it to bumping your tennis team down, so the 1 plays 2, etc. of course lohse is always pitching against “aces”, but neither haren or hudson has out-pitched him.

I heard Outkast
“The Way You Move”
and then
“Thriller”
and then what I think was that song that samples Stand by Me and talks about “being suicidal when they say that it’s over.” I think it’s called “Beautiful Girls.”
Matthew Leach kindly informed me via twitter that there were some songs we didn’t hear on the broadcast:
Something by Presidents of the United States and Kriss Kross. Also “Come Sail Away” and “Sister Christian.”
He has theories about whose iPod it is, and thinks it is probably multiple playlists from one player’s iPod. Brendan Ryan is on the short list, but he thinks it might be someone else.

I really hate that
building. It’s very ugly, and it blocks the view of the arch from where I (used to) live.
nope
actually the courthouse building. Sits right in the middle of arch, and rises above it, when you look down from forest park where I used to live.
Like I said....
I’d bet you could find one of the many scalpers willing to make something other than nothing after the game started. The ticket office also does a last minute thing where open tickets go for some ridiculous price. But I don’t know the details.

they haven't heard about miles yet.
but really, the first place thing and an exciting team, and believing you can win every game no matter what.
went to the game tonight for the first time this year
couple things i noticed
- jaime garcia was making some hitters look downright foolish…. i saw at least 5 questionable swings, the main culprits being Glaus and Matt Diaz
- what the hell is brendan ryan’s song… i blame his slump on his crappy techno song that has no understandable words to distinguish… btw his first three at-bats were not swang at technically (two backwards Ks, BB)
- Bobby Cox reminds me of TLR… too much game management… i agree with the IBBs to Pujols and Rasmus to get to Molina, but why walk Molina to get to Freese… glad that one backfired
- we got 6 runs on no homers…. that’s gotta be a season high
- new features on busch… in the first they had thurst inning where they showed people with budweisers… pointless and stupid IMO….. can’t remember other two, but i’d call it shameless advertising… but hey if this allows us to get pujols, then im for it
- speaking of, you can tell the cards have kicked it up a notch in the music video’s highlights, ways to connect with fans, and advertising as mentioned above due to Pujols’ impending contract and a winning record
- last thought- they kept showed that you could text Nick to a certain code and receive his autograph…. wonder how many people did that?

brendan ryan's song is some remix
of “chigidy check yrself befor ya wrck yaself”
it could be way worse. like holliday’s bullshit. or schumaker’s. or pujol’s. even.
plus, ryan’s thing is using the same record as “the message” by grandmaster flash, which is the best rap song ever.

Yeah, when I first heard it, I actually thought it WAS "The Message,"
which I thought was uncharacteristically dour for Mr. Ryan.
“Check ya Self” makes a lot more sense.

yeah
me too.
i had to explain that to jenni at the game tonight even. she remembers “the message”, vaguely.
her mom’s school’s kids sang the national anthem so we got free tickets. her mom was on the field with them even. she said pujols ran right past her, high-fived two students, and left her hanging.
sorry we missed you at shannon’s last weekend. that would’ve been fun.
I know--we'll have to meet up next time
We’ll be back in July, and maybe sooner than that. We usually go there for cheap drinks beforehand, but leave before it gets too douchey.

on boog comedy
they played a video on the main screen where he was being interviewed by some 8 year oldish kid, and brendan was holding the mic.
he kept pushing the mic into the kids face, and the kid was avoiding it.
i thought it was funny, but most of the crowd seemed to be groaning.
it was pretty funny though.
that interview was hilarious
the one where the kid couldn’t say where would you like to live was funny…. can see how it might annoy some people however
and bredan respectfully said he’d prefer southern California over STL…..

i didn't doubt him
clearly my questioning of him resulted in a positve uptick in performance against lefties….

from the recap post
at talking chop:
“The Cardinals essentially ended the game in the 5th inning, when sophomore phenom Colby Rasmus drove in a runner with a RBI double and was then scored on a 2-RBI single from David Freese.”

good stuff...
Jair Jurrjens will pitch for the Braves and former Brave (*wipes tears) Adam Wainwright will pitch for the Cardinals
glad to see they are bitter over a trade similar to how we are bitter…. all evens out in the end, eh?

they call us cards fans classy
so they’re ok with me. and they have a self-deprecating sense of humor about all the heyward hype.
