Bullpen needs some work.
During the Sunday game, McClellan threw a side session in the pen at SF. Was up for about ten minutes with the bullpen coach watching, and then went back to the dugout (no bullpen benches in SF). Clearly you missed that he's already a HoFer
In football, the object is for the quarterback, otherwise known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his recievers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use the shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.
In baseball the object is to go home! And to be safe! "I hope I'll be safe at home!"

The "Apple Pie Hubbub" was the first novel in which I used verbs
Things started to pick up from there . . .
Steve Martin
Yadi: The fastest of all the Molina brothers.
Motte courageously tried to catch the speeding comebacker
But in an odd twist of fate, failed to receive the spinning baseball into his outstretched baseball mitt. However the baseball was partially slowed by the baseball mitt and headed towards the position traditionally played by the “4” man, or the 2nd baseman. Motte in a rage of insanity made a valiant try to recover the ball with his barehand, whereupon he, while still in full motion, threw the ball while lying in the near prone position after having turned around towards Albert Pujols playing the 1st base position. This play was described as an extremely athletic baseball maneuver. Jason Motte then screamed to the sky, presumably some profanity not acceptable for minors, then proceeded to exclaim what was best known as “DUCKS” into his baseball mitt. It is unknown what the relevance of ducks are to this play.

Speaking of that, I am watching Major League while watching gameday.
-George Carlin (RIP)
Wow...
Talk about unliklihoods. Fast forward to the part where Cedeno crushes one. We need a Rasmus homerun.
Ill go to the part where Vaughn gets the save ;)

i read buster olney's blog daily and here's two things that got me laughing
Right away you can tell the first thing has issues by the title, The Greatness of Ryan Braun
Albert Pujols has generally been regarded as the best hitter in the National League, but it stands to reason that there could be a passing of the torch this season or in a future season. Braun is hitting a whopping .382 with a 1.104 OPS.
the second thing is about roy halladay, once again the title is annoying at Forget 20, Doc could win 25
seriously, do they even try to rebuff their stereotypes?
"You’ve got to play every game like it’s your last because it’s definitely survive-and-advance or don’t survive and school," Tiller said.

Seriously from a credible news source
FDR’s FIRESIDE CHAT LAST NIGHT JUST A STREAM OF CUSS WORDS
In a drastic departure from the traditional ‘fireside chat,’ President Roosevelt held American radio listeners captive last night with a stream of lurid profanities that lasted thirty minutes with nary a break to take a breath.
FDR
While millions of families gathered around their radios in rapt attention for their leader’s reassuring words during a time of great hardship for the nation, the president cleared his throat, then said, in his familiar, soothing, Harvard-educated drawl, “My fellow Americans …” After the customary opening, the people of the nation huddled even closer to their radio receivers to hear every nuance of the president’s tidbits of fatherly wisdom, recent policy actions which would bring the Depression to a swift end, and his positive-minded thoughts about recovery.
Roosevelt then spoke again: “Cock-sucker, mother fucker, fart-fucking, tit licking, Christ-humping fucker,” the president said. He went on, adding, “Shit, bull shit, and horse shit. A good God-damn cunt-kicking ass-hole-sucking tit-fucking piss-shitter.”
He continued to swear, making no attempt to connect the obscenities to any larger theme, or even explain to what or whom the curses were directed.
He spoke for nearly 30 minutes before falling silent.
Belief that success is inevitable is as likely to hold you back as a belief that it is impossible.

That is as close to an accurate
portrayal of coverage to date as I have seen
Belief that success is inevitable is as likely to hold you back as a belief that it is impossible.
In honor of Lego and our recently added QB I edited the one phrase
Belief that success is inevitable is as likely to hold you back as a belief that it is impossible.
we'll give you lego for tulo
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
That decision has already been made
and as it turns out CarGo is making it look like a smart one, 5rbis tonight with 3/4 of the Cycle
Belief that success is inevitable is as likely to hold you back as a belief that it is impossible.
yeah, i know
it was made before CarGo though – tulo over hollidaisy – good move.
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
Holliday is an elite hitter
and I am not happy to see him gone, he shows why it sucks to be a mid to small market team. When the Yankees fans say “Hey we developed Jeter, Cano, Posada, and Rivera” I have to think that it was trading an aging Larry Walker that gave us the money to sign Fowler after getting him in the 14th
Belief that success is inevitable is as likely to hold you back as a belief that it is impossible.
i don't have a good feeling about holliday
i didn’t want the deal from the jumpstart, so i’m biased, but then the FA signing killed me. i’m big on walrus, though, and just hoping this works out.
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
Walrus was a one position guy
two if you count DH which STL can’t so for the until Walrus is 31-32 he was a no position guy in STL. I think you could have gotten Halladay for the same package that got you Holliday, then signed Lego in the hot stove. That of course didn’t happen and now the Phillies are a lot better for it
Belief that success is inevitable is as likely to hold you back as a belief that it is impossible.
thank god they extended Ibanez
Belief that success is inevitable is as likely to hold you back as a belief that it is impossible.
i would've found some at-bats for walrus
this year, let him do some hitting, and then maybe dealt him for more than the right to pay holliday 100+ mil. i was and am high on craig, though, so he would’ve factored into left. then i’d go after werth.
"Some days I feel like the hypotenuse in a love triangle; others as if my lucky number is pi."
C'mon guys you know better than that.
also: do not not make your cussing personal. don’t cuss at anybody, be they a member of the community or a member of the cardinals. you can write “taguchi just took the shittiest route to a ball i have ever seen,” but not “taguchi’s the biggest piece of shit i have ever seen.”

what's it... a 6 year age difference, give or take?

No.
I think it’s less than that. Like 3. At least that’s what I think. If it were 6 fang would get the Romeo and Juliet law.

Just looked it up.
It varies state to state. From what I read I think the guy can be no older than 4 years older than a girl who is between older than anywhere from 14-16 years of age depending on the state.

"If I do it wrong just break another toe. Three's my lucky number anyway." -Evan Lysacek: 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist ♥
this is how it is missouri
first off, the legal age is 17, not 18. this is a common misconception.
romeo and juliet laws in missouri i believe are 3 years. so me being 19, i could legally date a girl that is 16 years old and get away with it. when i was 18, it was 15. and when i was first 17, i could get away with dating a 14 year old.
obviously, when i turn 20 in a month, i lose all (benefits i guess we’ll call them) of romeo and juliet laws, as 20 – 3 = 17, the legal age in missouri.
but yeah, main point here is that’s still wayyyy too old for a freshman in high school.

alright so how does 6 year difference make him eligible for the romeo and juliet law
if the guy can be no older than 4 years olders

My biggest gripe with BBTN
is that the hosts actually think they’re stars, like they are the centerpiece of the show. No, idiots, you should be set pieces. Just show me wall to wall highlight/game coverage and STFU for the most part. instead, its like the sporadic game clips are some unwelcome burden interrupting their nonsensical dialogue. I don’t care about your opinions, just show me who hit the ball with the stick, you jackasses.

wow... busy catching up on threads
and my take on the pujols:
If we get him for 8/200, then I’d be fine with it… at the very least if you get absolutely fucked over in the last stages, you are paying him for what he’s done over the early career value where we had him as a steal
I would structure my contract with him something like this:
2012: 30 million
2013: 30 million
2014: 25 million
2015: 25 million
2016: 25 million
2017: 20 million
2018: 20 million
2019: 25 million (option clause…. 15 million buyout)
Now, that buyout is large, but I’m assuming we would accept it regardless just in courtesy so he could finish his career here.
in 2012, we would have a ridiculous 74.8 million spent on Pujols, Holliday, Wainwright, Molina, and Lohse….. 5 players….
I’m assuming we do not have Ludwick, Penny, or Carpenter by that season.
Somewhat realistically, we’d still have our starting catcher, third baseman, and center fielder that we do now in addition to our Waino, Garcia and Lohse…. I’m assuming Duncan project and Lance Lynn cover the rotation….. 2B can be filled by Delasco/Kozma and SS can be filed by Ryan/Kozma and RF could also be from within
all the positions that we don’t currently have under arbitration control are all cheap positions in general to get solid starters at (2B, SS, RF, back-end rotation, bullpen)
This deal works even better if they can skip his option year and have the contract begin in 2011 and end in 2018
