Miles back on a Minor League Deal
Globe Dem reportED that Grit just signed a minor league deal. I assume we'll be seeing him soon.
I updated the link to point to Goold's story at the PD, rather than Rains' tweet.

Let's see
The Cubs said goodbye, the A’s said no thanks and the Reds released him. Yet, somehow, someone still thinks a 2B who hits nothing but singles and doesn’t walk can still play.
Sigh. It sure will be fun to watch him play SS this summer.
For the love of Pete
Save Tony from himself on this one! This guy is not a SS, nor a 2nd baseman, nor much of a hitter. I thought we were home free on this, but he’s like herpes.
Hopefully it ends quietly and peacefully, but I have a nagging suspicion that Mo just signed up for a weekly “Why isn’t Miles here yet!” meeting. I can think of hundreds of better things for him to be focusing his attention on.
maybe they did this so Miles can retire as a Cardi...ha ha ha. I almost made it.

hopefully this means if he doesn't hit he doesn't come up to the big club.
“He’s going to show where his game is in 2010,” manager Tony La Russa said. “And that’s really what he’s got to show. What is his skill level right now? The other parts of him — toughness, competitor, and his teammate’s qualities — you know those are all there. It depends on what his game is. We’re going to give him that chance.”
somewhat concerning
but, realistically, as long as he’s the 25th option on the roster, I don’t see how this can be too bad. I hope.
This seems to be a poor sign for our long-term view of Tyler Greene, who’s been busily hitting the ball really well in Memphis. I’m starting to feel a bit sorry for Greene, tbh – I believe he’s earned an extended shot at a major league back-up job.

disagree on greene having earned anything
and miles at 25th man…does that put stav at 24? this is a problem.

Wait a minute...
you mean to tell me that Stav is NOT Miles in disguise after he’d gained 20 lbs? (and grew, what, 4-5 inches?)

we haven't seen them in the same room yet.
and if we do, there’s always Amaury Marti Cazana.

well, we can hope this is merely a ploy to draw two checks
…let us pray. i swear to GOB’s, if they are both in uniform on our bench…well, my keys may not survive.

the best part
they were looking for an opportunity to do this for a while. P-D:
The Cardinals toyed with the idea of bringing Aaron Miles back to the fold earlier this season but couldn’t find a way to wedge the utility infielder into the organization.
