You know

if we win 2 out of every 3, that’s108 wins on the season. I’d take that.

i think ur right....

last year i believe he had a plus 5.00 ERA

so, he’d have to be around 3.00 ERA after a full season to average out to a 4.00 ERA. and that’s probably not good enough to get him type A status. and and even 3.00 is probably the most optimistic one can be

And we just want an average or above average 3rd starter to replace piniero’s flukey career year, so I’ll think when it’s all said and done, even though he obviously won’t be THIS good, he’ll be just slightly better than what ur asking, and we’ll all be damn pleased with signing him. Fair assesment

And I am a lohse fan, I think the only thing about the lohse signing that isn’t great is the market carshing after he had already signed and as a pure pitcher I think he’s very good. I also think the next two years after this one will be nearly as good as ‘08 despite his age. I just think he’ll be slowed a littel this year by still learning how to bounce back from an injury.

Players of the game

Luddy 2 for 4, Lopez 2 for 3, Pujols had our only RBI, and mainly Brad Penny for pitching very well. also, Boog avenged. and the bullpen somehow did not fail.

not players of the game: Colby, Holliday both 0 for 4 against Astros pitching. Yadi 0 for 3. Skip took 2 walks and had that one at bat where he wore down the pitcher, so he’s off the hook

bread actually has massive networks of dormant mold

They are sterilized by cooking/baking.

But over time, airborne spores find their way onto the nutrient-rich surface of bread and start multiplying — even under the cold conditions of a refrigerator. At freezing point, fungi become dormant. But if they are exposed to heat again, they can revive and continue to grow.

So keep your bread in the fridge or toast it well.

the other thing is

nutrient-rich (and pH balanced, etc) liquids and sugars are what bad beasties eat. bread is a more complex thingy. it needs enzymes to break it down … and generally the enzymes in your mouth get to it before anything else does.

Am I the only one worried about the offense?

Twice it’s been shut down by very mediocre pitchers (first Arroyo, now Myers)

It could be problem when they start facing teams that don’t suck.

Albert Pujols… well i need not continue but will

Matt Holliday, a .300 leadoff hitter, former 30 HR, 100 RBI guy (which i think he can duplicate this year), a prospect will 9 walks (9!), All-Star catcher, and Allen Craig/David Freese (ok well this part i understand, but one of these guys is gonna hit 15 HRs)

well he was just annoying to me overall. I mean, it would be nice if musicians got along all the time, but on the other hand it’s nice to have freedom as a musician, and there’s a lot of different musicians to jam with out there.

becoming unnecessarily bossy and trying to take control of nearly every aspect of the band

but basically I saw a pattern emerging after a year and a half, and he and I were disagreeing about a lot of stuff, such as song arrangements, recording, and a range of other stuff that I will not go into. basically it became not as fun.

so now I am starting a different type of band that is more along the experimental/jazz/psychedelic instrumental rock vein instead of straight up midtempo heavy metal. if I play heavy metal again it will either be much slower or much much faster.

in new orleans

the horn is always the star. just saw some a band at cafe negril – think it’s the marsalis family place, or the neville’s (whoever doesn’t have snug harbor next door) – and the trumpet and sax guys had just finished touring with willie nelson. they were the stars. the bass guy in the back had won a grammy.

they take some practice to get used to

also, you need to find your ultimate 3 presets for the delays, you can make your guitar sound like other things. like one I made sounds like a lap steel with delay on it, one sounds like a weird synth or something, and the other one is more just sort of a normal delay, but even that on is kinda odd.

Sorry I've been out of the loop

Had Sectionals for the Ultimate team (And USC made Regionals for the first time in its history)

Catching up on homework that was forgone during Sectionals

Turned 21

Questions:
1) Where did Walkapotamoose go?

2) What the fuck is wrong with Boog?

3) How is Brad Penny being successful? Groundballs?

Of all sad words of tongue or pen; the saddest are these: 'It might have been!'

compliments of crawfish boxes, that was obviously after the throwing error in first – so yadi is trying to live up to quintero standards? that sounds like ed wade talking.

truly fascinating game thread

there’s something for everyone here, unless you’re looking for bacon and pegacorns. good account of the bourn/penny-molina-lopex confrontation too, and ol pete is front and center here. and only around 250 comments, so a quick read:

this is interesting. very interesting.

Brendan Ryan’s Day Off….

one, Boog talks to reporters too much, and in too much detail. again.
two, making decisions because of Joe Mather.
three, McGwire upset because he went to the stadium without him? what? Mac, you gotta give the guy his space. this is was my initial concern when Mac came on as hitting coach. mother henning them to death. getting too involved with a bunch of guys who are used to nursing their own swings and managing their own slumps.
four, Boog cares a ton.
five, he’s really smart about the feel of his own game, and seems a lot more cognizant of when he feels frustrated.
