The Big Hurt VS The Mang (wRC+)
Frank Thomas is Pujols' number one ranked comparable player on Baseball Prospectus. I take a look at each player's first nine seasons in the MLB and how they compare based on wRC+.
Admittedly, I used this post as an exercise to develop a better understanding of wRC+ and why it's better than wOBA+.
And I just wanted to use my Saturday afternoon thinking/writing about baseball.

I liked your post.
Aas long as Albert stays healthy, The Machine will certainly be considered a better player than The Big Hurt. Looking at the numbers, it sure feels like Thomas’ first several seasons have been, perhaps, underrated.
Forget it, spants. It's Chinatown. - tom s.
It's a perfect comparison for the first 9 years of a career
Here’s hoping Albert finishes a little more like Stan the Man though.
"But as the leadoff guy that inning, my job is to get on base and let guys drive me in." - Albert Pujols 8/20/09, base-clogger.
Seriously...
Let’s hope that surgery this off season was just what he needs for sustained dominance.
Nice post.
I’ve kind of always had a soft spot for the Big Hurt too, for some reason. I always remember him being pretty good, but I had forgotten his first few seasons were so sensational as well. Thanks for the reminder.
Is it Spring yet?
