I've done a lot of reading on this blog, and my own research. We've been wanting a good lead-off man, and I'm not sold on Theriot as our lead-off man. Would it be realistic to trade Colby Rasmus for Ichiro? Would it have to be a straight up trade, or do we feel we'd deserve Ichiro and some money, or Ichiro and a pitcher. I mean we wouldn't have to worry about having someone who's going to bitch about being a Cardinal or being coached by Tony La Russa, or whatever reason. I mean trading Colby would suck, as I think he's a good player whom needs to mature A LOT. I was high on him when he was in the minor leagues, so it's tough to say It might be best to see him go elsewhere. But to be honest with you guys, I think it would suck to see him go, but if I'd trade a young Colby Rasmus for a vet who still has a long time to play. Trading for Ichiro would be a good move if we were able to get a little more than just Ichiro, as he is older. Wouldn't it also kinda clear the way for Jon Jay if he'd like to be a starter one day for the Cardinals? I'd rather stick it out and risk seeing if Jon Jay is our future for a third outfielder. Here I'm thinking we'd have an older Ichiro who's still got a lot of juice in the tank, for a younger Colby Rasmus. Wouldn't it be a better place for Ichiro? You gotta think he's dying for a championship one day, and lets face it.. He's not winning one in Seattle. Heres an ideal lineup if Ichiro were a Cardinal.
1. Ichiro
2. Ryan Theriot
3. Albert Pujols
4. Matt Holliday
5. Lance Berkman
6. David Freese
7. Yadier Molina
8. Skip Shumaker
9. Pitcher
