Something like the pointless violence without a plot of the Kill Bills

As soon as Landa chugged the milk Pulp Fiction style, I knew it wasn’t going to be different.

Not afraid to nitpick

by joker24 on Sep 9, 2009 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions

That first scene was a little bit disturbing

The dude who played Landa did such a good job of portraying the character as pure evil. I don’t know how else to describe it, it just shocked me how well that dialogue was written. The “boards” part at the end of the scene (to avoid any spoilers for people who haven’t watched yet) made me almost uncomfortable.

Meh

The intertwining plots weren’t on anywhere near the same level as PF for me. Plus the whole cool messed up timeline thing. It took me a few watchings to really figure out all that happened in Pulp Fiction, don’t think that’ll be the case with this one. Plus IB didn’t have anything close to a scene as cool as the coffee shop. Or the whole Zed thing. But it was really entertaining and probably better acted (which is really saying something).

I like Pulp Fiction a lot if no one noticed.

Not afraid to nitpick

AL only this year

NL games are all set for Oct 7, 8, 10, 11 & 13 per mlb.com

The Club with the best record in the American League will have the right to decide whether it will play in the seven-day or eight-day Division Series (i.e., whether it will start its Division Series on Wednesday, Oct. 7 or Thursday, Oct. 8). The A.L. Club with the best record will make its selection no later than one hour following the completion of any game that finalizes which club will have the best record in the Championship Season or finalizes the matchups in the Division Series, whichever is later.

no 13 pitchers per Leach’s tuesday blog entry Don’t know if this was discussed yesterday.

One last thing from that session: Mozeliak said that it’s likely the Cardinals will carry 14 position players and 11 pitchers on their playoff roster.

It's a "popularity" and "monetary" bias, not an EC bias

If you ever watch any coverage of the Little League WS, every other kid’s favorite team is the Yankees, whether they’re from New England, Kentucky, California, or Texas.

Around one out of every three baseball fans is a Yankee fan. That means one out of every three SC viewers is a Yankee fan.

Furthermore, the richest, most powerful, and most intelligent in the country are generally Yankee fans, aka the people in power. The Yankees would have to have three straight losing seasons before they ever got dumped from top billing—and with the present state of the game, that will never happen in our lifetimes.

by olddomination on Sep 10, 2009 9:42 AM EDT up reply actions

uh, no.

because geographically the Cardinals still cover more area than the Red Sox. some of their own polls bear it out. and I did watch the LLWS coverage … Albert gained a lot of ground this year.

and yet the Red Sox get more coverage, and thus more kids are able to see them in action. they literally don’t know any better. more casual fans pick it up because they’re relying on balanced national coverage that never happens. like that clip just now. did we see that tremendous relay from Ludwick to Skip to DeRosa? Of course not. They can’t even pronounce two of those guys’ names.

also, are you saying gdm isn’t smart?

Redbirds won!

JAIME GARCIA!
http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3903316

After more than a two-hour rain delay, the Albuquerque Isotopes (0-1) snapped five scoreless innings, but the Memphis Redbirds had already built all the lead they would need handing the ’Topes a 6-2 loss and taking a 1-0 series lead in game one of the PCL American Conference Finals.

The Isotopes were baffled by Redbird starter Jaime Garcia (1-0), who held Albuquerque to just one hit through 6.1 frames, an infield knock by Jamie Hoffmann in the bottom of the fifth. Until that point, the Redbird starter retired 13 straight, all via the groundball or strikeout. The left-hander, making his fifth Triple-A start, struck out six his first time through the potent Isotopes lineup, including five of the first six batters he faced.
