anyone else worried about running Yadi into a crisp?

Though I think he feels obligated to take the turn with ‘his’ pitchers as they go for CGs and the Cy Young. Molinas have hang-ups like that.

as soon as the cardinals get three catchers on the roster

yadi will get some time off, especially if the cardinals have clinched. after that, it wouldn’t surprise me if tony sat yadi every other game for the rest of the year, especially the non-carp, non-waino, non-pineiro starts.

anyone have a college wireless network friendly game link?

i’d rather watch the game in my room and get some work done than go hunt down the tv in the lounge.

nope

sad times, i realize. not much need for one anyway as i generally either go to my buddy’s room to watch most games or just hit up the HDTV in the lounge to watch them. but these day games are hard as they fall right the middle of my prime homework doing time.

i would but

it’s calculus and if i miss a day, i’m way the shit behind

yeah, you're telling me

i missed one day because i went back home for the weekend and it took me 6 hours of hitting the book to get everything figured. and this is still the beginning of the semster, so pretty basic stuff

luckily i transferred calculus from high school and didn't have take it in college

but i tried calc 2 in college. first try, dropped it the first week. second try, dropped it the seventh week. i’ll never take a calc class again.

by stlcardinalsfang on Sep 9, 2009 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions

calc 2 is a required course for me

gonna take it at community college, though. i’ve heard math classes at universities are a bitch

derivatives are easy

it’s integrals to look out for. they are an absolute bitch.

by stlcardinalsfang on Sep 9, 2009 2:00 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah,

the derivatives are pretty easy. it’s all we’ve learned so far

Of course, hope means being cut down on some street corner, as you run like mad, by a random bullet.

by prophetjohn on Sep 9, 2009 2:02 PM EDT up reply actions

well

and finding tangent lines and a few other things

Of course, hope means being cut down on some street corner, as you run like mad, by a random bullet.

by prophetjohn on Sep 9, 2009 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions

that sort of sucks

but still not as bad as integrals. did you have a whole unit on limits before starting any actual calculus?

by stlcardinalsfang on Sep 9, 2009 2:04 PM EDT up reply actions

we spent one class on limits

then derivatives, then tangent lines, then kind of putting it all together. and now i’m here

Of course, hope means being cut down on some street corner, as you run like mad, by a random bullet.

by prophetjohn on Sep 9, 2009 2:06 PM EDT up reply actions

yuck

and that’s why i’m glad i took it in high school when we had a whole two semesters. we spent two weeks on limits before we even started calculus. really helped.

by stlcardinalsfang on Sep 9, 2009 2:08 PM EDT up reply actions

calc 2 was required for my minor

and i promptly dropped the minor. it was just too hard, and the professors show no mercy at all. you don’t get it one day, you don’t get the whole unit. and that’s just too bad for you.

by stlcardinalsfang on Sep 9, 2009 2:00 PM EDT up reply actions

that's how this professor is

it’s been like 2 years since i’ve taken college algebra and he just throws all this at us expecting us to know all this algebra crap. which i guess is fair, but it still sucks

i just want to know why i have to be such a mathematics wizard to get a business degree

Of course, hope means being cut down on some street corner, as you run like mad, by a random bullet.

i only had to make it through calc 1. what kind of business are you?

by stlcardinalsfang on Sep 9, 2009 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions

undecided thus far

but UT requires calc 2 for any bachelor in business

probably MIS, though

that's crappy

i’m accounting/finance/management and only had to make it through calc 1.

by stlcardinalsfang on Sep 9, 2009 2:05 PM EDT up reply actions

economics without rates of change is impossible

I took micro in a class that didn’t require calc as a prereq, and it was awful. Concepts like elasticity are just clunky without derivatives.

by brackenthebox on Sep 9, 2009 2:06 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah

that’s why i’m leaning more toward management information systems. i’m actually pretty good at math, i just hate it

much more than macro. and i agree the calculus really helped with those kind of things.

I had to drop calculus twice before taking it during the summer session. Having it every day really helped me retain the material.

idle thought -- if the memphis and springfield clubs go very far in the postseason,

is there really going to be any point in calling up extra hands that don’t need rule V protection? like, is royce ring really going to save the club by pitching to three batters in that last week?

maybe if homefield advantage is still in play, then it will matter. i could see the callups being pretty limited, though.

While also reiterating strong interest in retaining pending free agent left fielder Matt Holliday, Mozeliak allowed that extending DeRosa before season’s end is more likely than finalizing what would almost certainly be more intricate talks for Holliday.

I figured around 800 comments per each game thread (judging by the numbers of comments for the last few games) and we usually hit 2 overflows. usually the 2nd overflow was about half the first two threads. sooooo… 800 * 2.5 at 162 games per year comes to approximately 324,000 comments per season

it seems to me that he is kinda like your best friends annoying little brother. How many pitches was WW at when the 6th inning started in Pittsburg this week?

When he gave up his montly quota of runs. I wonder if he hits a little wall halfway through the game. At least he did better today.

The Cardinls have never gone to a World series in a year ending in 9. Every other year they have: 1930, 31, 42, 82, 43, 34, 44, 64, 85, 26, 46, 2006, 67, 87 , 28 & 68. But no 9s, Could this be the year?
