As thoughtful as Chuckb’s long post is, I can’t find a clear statement of the main distinction between fanposts and fanshots in it (or, if its there, its buried in the length).

the main distinction between fanpost and fanshots that VEB follows is actually found at Kalkman’s post on Beyond the Boxscore.

Can I propose a short lead in to Chuckb’s post? This is summarized from a Alxfritz comment last week:

"When to use fanposts or fanshots:

A fanpost should be an original, unpublished analysis based on data and logic. During the offseason and heavy trade periods (e.g., July), a single fanpost will be created each week to collect all trade-related discussions.

A fanshot can be used for a variety of other posts, including a short thought, a picture, a video, or a link to an external article or source. "

Sometimes when moderators forget to delete a fanpost that should be deleted, it is left up for a couple of days. In those couple of days, great discussions start. But then, all’va sudden a moderator comes in and deletes a fanpost that has over 100 comments and some great discussions simply because the original fanpost wasn’t that good.

So in the “community guidelines” for the fanposts, can’t there also be a moderation guidelines along the lines of “read to check to see if there has been intelligent discussion in thread before deleting — even if initial fanposts sucks beyond suck.” This is a community after all, and more often than not the comments are what make this website so special.

Before today, I hadn’t posted in over a week.

So I’m not the trouble make this time. Ha!

I took offense to the very harsh criticism I recieved for the Duncan Files.

I apologized for the profanity. That was just lazy on my part. But My post had merit. At least in my opinion.

What really sent me over the edge was Yadi2s comment about it being PD quality and how it was a waste.

I took one more swipe at him and now I am done.

I would like to be able to voice my opinions and views. I know they are different and grating to some but if you don’t like it don’t comment.

Anyhows I declare a truce.

Why do I feel partly responsible for this?
