started as a local media dig back in the 80's

It got passed down to me as an impressionable youth by my dad. I started watching baseball sometime around 1985 or 86 or so (had a sweet poster of the ’85 Cards in my bedroom when I was 5), and my dad always referred to the Mets as “Pond Scum”. Back in those days the Cards and Mets had a bit of a rivalry going on in the NL East.

If he put a level swing on the ball, then why was the barrel of the bat 6 inches lower than his hands?

Good hitters don’t swing level to the ground even on balls up in the strike zone.

They playoffs will as always be a crapshoot

but the last 2 months of this regular season is going to be quite memorable.

Man this team is fun to watch.

"I remember once talking to one guy on the Cardinals and asking him what Pujols was like as a teammate. He said something that’s really special, if you think about it. He said: "Albert is so good that you feel like you let him down when you screw up." I thought that had to be the ultimate line that could ever be said about a ballplayer. I build my baseball team around that ballplayer."

Ricky and Pat: Sir, we need a sponsor for our Wii bowling league.

FSMW Executive: Guys, we just don’t have it in the budget.

Ricky and Pat: But sir, we need shirts in order to be in the league.

FSMW Executive: I’ve got it! We sponsor your Wii bowling team, put the FSMW logo on the shirts, AND you guys can wear them on the post-game show. That way, we can claim them as uniform expense on our taxes! It’s a win-win.

Ricky: Great, I’ll wear the shirt without an undershirt and make sure to leave the top 3 buttons unbuttoned!

Pat: Yes! Your chest hair will increase the sex appeal of the post-game breakdown.

The stats would say that Carpenter didn't have his best night...

Only 9 swinging strikes.

102 pitches, 63 strikes.

According to pitchFX, he only had 1 swinging strike on his curveball.

Pretty decent amount of pitches in the middle of the strikezone too.

Uggla doesn't like Hanley Ramirez Contract
“You don’t get the same respect from teammates when you’re not playing,” he said. “I got people upset when I got out of the game last night. I try to do the best I can. Whatever.”

Ramirez repeated some of the same comments later about teammates, and Uggla overheard at his locker about 10 feet away and said: “I was one of them.”

The two exchanged words. And at one point, Uggla said: “Yeah, you got your $70 million” and went on to use an expletive while asking him why he had to come out of the game.
