A Hard Decision
Operating under the assumption that the Cardinals make the playoffs, I was considering making the flight to St. Louis to see a playoff game and see my family. Being a student, my only choice is to come on the weekend. Also considering that I'd like to see some important baseball, I was going to leave out the NLDS. This leaves me with 3 possible games to see. The advantages and disadvantages are listed.
Game 3 of the NLCS- Seeing this game assumes that the Cardinals' opponent has the better record, and that the cardinals get this far. However, no one really cares about Game 3.
Game 7 NLCS- Seeing this game implies the Cardinals have the better record, the series goes to three games, and the cardinals get this far, but EVERYONE cares about game seven.
World Series game 3- The cardinals would have to get to the world series, but thanks to the ridiculous all-star game system, if the cardinals make it this far, this game would take place in St. Louis. Everyone loves the world series, but i don't know if the cardinals can make it this far.
Your thoughts? I'm leaning towards Game 3 of the NLCS, but I can't pull the trigger. Help me VEB, you're my only hope.

The better question is: how do you have access to all these primo tickets?!?!
Are you paying a ton of money for these? I’d go with your gut and stick with the NLCS, btw. There’s no such thing as a unimportant playoff game.
Testicle-exploding shit storm, circa 7/12/08 - We will never forget!
actually, no
it’s original discussion, and it’s of potential use to other Cards fans.

obviously you're not a student in St. Louis
because if you were, “Cardinals playoff game” would be a legitimate excuse for missing class. Or perhaps a legitimate excuse for the professor cancelling class. I’m just saying, I still don’t regret any classes I may or may not have attended in 2004 and 2006.
I was at Wash U when the Cards won it all in 06
And I definitely had more than one class canceled thanks to the World Series.
I was in grad school across the street
and thus all of my classes were 4:30 starts. Mostly I had professors who would start class and let them out with plenty of time to get to the ballpark or bar. Some of them were fans, some of them just knew they were fighting a losing cause.
"...and... when I grow up I wanna be an outfielder like JIM EDMONDS!" -- seven year old deaf kid. That's right, I taught him right.
Agreed
I wouldn’t be so quick to discoun the NLDS either, you know the NLDS games 1-3 will happen, if we win that you know 1-4 will happen…no way I put all my eggs into a basket that has a chance of not hatching when I have one guarenteed to hatch.
"Come test me every day if you want," says Pujols, "Everything I ever made in this game I would give back to the Cardinals if I got caught."
I'll go if you can't make your flight ;)

I'll go ahead and skip some school...
It’s a couple hundred miles away for me, but I’ll find a way!
The only thing that would make this game better is a walkoff! - said in walkoff situations since 9/19/09
WALKOFFZ R MOAR FUNN! - used after walkoffs since 9/19/09
yeah, I think I'd walk there from Chicago if I couldn't get a bus

I skipped school to fly home for games 4 and 5 of the 06 WS
best decision I ever made.
I also skipped school to fly home for the 04 WS
not the best decision I ever made (though at least I wasn’t here in Boston)
