it's my fault
i registered for the Rockies post-season tickets opportunity – with the plan of seeing the Cards/Rockies in the playoffs. it’s had a horribly negative effect on both teams.
i have apologized to the GOBs, but i think it may take some sort of sacrifice to make things right.

Not with their schedule they won't.
The firewall is that four-game series the Cubs have to play in San Francisco. They win three out of four, they’ll have the division title.
And the Cardinals will make history. And Mets fans will laugh at us.

I do hope Rockies with the WC. I live in Denver. They’re my second favorite team. I root for them to win (except when they play the Cards).
And, if they do – we would play them whether or not we have best record. No assumptions there.

If the cubs went 19-0 to close out the season.....
The Cardinals would have to go 8-8 to lose the division.
If the cubs were lucky enough to go 13-6 the cards would have to go 3-13
*math could be slightly off in this process. As I spent literally 2 minutes thinking about it.

Cubs schedule 9 at home - 10 on road
Cubs (.611 home, .437 road)
home today/tomorrow against Brewers
3 at STL (.587 home)
3 at MIL (.479 home)
4 at SF (.658 home)
off day
4 at home vs Pitt (DH first date) (.260 road)
3 at home vs ARI (.432 road)
I don’t see the Cubs winning 15 games out of the above schedule. The Cubs are 75-68 for a reason.
The real difference will be made this weekend
If we win even one of those games, we should be safe. If we get swept, that’s another story.
the cards will be
at least 4 games up come Monday. With 12 games to play.
The cubs will have 14 to play.
keep going

Your second line — Cubs 13-6, Cardinals 3-12 (after today) — is more likely than you think.
Cardinals play the Cubs this weekend, then Colorado next weekend. Think there’s a chance they’ll get swept in both series? Pretty good one, the way they’ve been playing.
That leaves the Astros, Reds and Brewers — and the possibility of a 3-6 record against them. Could happen.
I personally don’t think the Cubs will lose six games the rest of the year — but that San Francisco series on the road will be the test for them. They pass, the playoffs are theirs.

find me one time this team has gone 3-12 this year.
the worst I get eyeballing the schedule over a 15 game span is a 5-10 stretch starting May 31st.
so what you’re saying is that if we perform as badly as we did when pineiro missed a start, when holliday and lugo and derosa were not on the team, and duncan and thurston were getting started on a daily basis, we still probably wouldn’t miss the playoffs? i can live with that.

personally don’t think the Cubs will lose six games the rest of the year — but that San Francisco series on the road will be the test for them. They pass, the playoffs are theirs.

we should trade the Cubbies some non-prospect for So,
just so he can take a pinch-hit at the end of Sept. and retire a Card.

If the entire season were a 9 inning game, we'd be in the 9th inning
And would it be a Cardinal’s game without an exciting 9th inning that makes you think we might lose the whole thing?!

this'll play itself out
I am mostly concerned about the Boog timeline of events. (is there any other?) Even if Boog is rushed back, he’ll be rusty. It’l be interesting to see if he’ll be sharp during the Cubs series. It’d be a shame to waste Skippy’s contribution at lead-off, as well.
But the infield defense is crazy without Boog.
And there’s Boog loosening up. Don’t hurt yourself further, Boogman.

Those are flawed.
Almost all other major cities are part of a larger county. St. Louis City is its own county which gives it a higher murder rate based on population. If the city and county were merged, we’d be way, way lower on that list. For example, St. Louis city is smaller than Wichita, KS, but their metro area is way smaller.
"I’m going to come after you." - Chris Carpenter
also true of baltimore city (with a surrounding baltimore county)
and washington, d.c. – an artificially small “city” within a much larger metro area.
not coincidentally, these three cities often lead the murder stats.

It’s tough. But I feel like having girl in your username helps a little. Maybe it’s sexist but whatever.

Jay has been a massive disappointment for me this season
I had such high hopes for him

Jay is an all Avg guy
With a low walk rate. So he is due to massive swings in average due to BABIP being too high or low

I absolutely love the Memphis color guy
I can’t come up with enough good things to say about him. He might be one of the best in game commentators I’ve heard.

Who is Pete Parise?
I just remember him as being the guy we thought was another guy in the boxscore that is injured
He was signed as an undrafted FA
signed out of the Frontier League. Heavily fastball that generates a lot of groundouts. Limited secondary stuff.

i'm not a red sox fan
but i do love me some good baseball. that was fun. now on to Giants/Rockies. Just makin the most of the MLB package…
So I had this kid at the library come up to me
He asked me to help him write a report. Kid didn’t seem the sharpest crayon in the box. He just needed to make a 5 paragraph report about pretty much anything. Maybe something more political natured. I could write 5 paragraphs about nothing in no time. Didn’t know what to tell the kid. I didn’t know a simple topic this kid could talk about. So I told him to argue drug legalization. Which I feel is a pretty straight forward and easy argument. This poor kid is probably going to get pegged as the stoner in the class. He fit the part.
