Jaime Garcia started game 1, did well only allowing 1 unearned run on 1 hit, (I can't believe there was a 2 1/2 hour rain delay in NEW MEXICO!) very pleased to see he's pitching well, i hope he'll come to spring training strong and make a case for the #5 starter, we need a decent lefty starter, haven't had one of those since......Mulder, year 1.
Game 3 is in Memphis today (friday) here's hoping the redbirds get the sweep so we can start calling up guys (or do they still have to play the AAA national championship against the IL winners?)
Never Forget.

The Bricktown Showdown
which is the one-game championship game in Oklahoma City between the PCL and IL, is set for September 22nd.
Think of it this way: if Memphis makes it all the way to this game, which I hope they do, the Cardinals should have clinched the division by then, freeing up a lot of playing time for the Redbird callups.

9th Inning Comeback
The Redbirds got 5 runs in the 9th to beat the Isotopes, 8-6, on Thursday. The winner of the PCL American Conference plays the winner of the PCL Pacific Conference championship. Tacoma and Sacramento are tied at 1-1 in their best of 5 series.

Game 2
I was at the game last night, and a few observations:
It was a terrific game to watch…somewhat sloppy, but several lead changes and lots of 2-out hits.
PJ Walters and Charlie Manning did not look good at all. Pete Parise pitched well in the bottom of the 9th, going 1-2-3. Walters got himself into trouble frequently, throwing as many balls as strikes over his 4.2 innings. His out pitch last night was his change-up (low to mid 70 mph range), or something similar, which he got quite a few guys to swing and miss on. Fastball was very hittable.
Tyler Greene has been the offensive star of the series so far, going 5-8 in the series, with 1 HR and 1 3B, 2 RBI and OPS of 1.917.
Not sure how old Chris Maloney is, but it looks like he walks out onto the field with an imaginary walker.
Both games were fun to experience…I’m kinda surprised the Redbirds won both, but happy for the team. They stayed in last night’s game and kept the pressure on.
Good luck tonight, fellas!

It's not the best baseball team that wins a playoff series
It’s the team that plays the best baseball. And right now, that’s Memphis.

With all of...
the revenue pouring in from the AAA playoff games, will the Redbirds be able to re-sign Nick Stavinoha? Or does that income go to the big club?

The Redbirds
and any affiliated minor league teams do not pay any of their players’ salaries. Only independent minor league teams do.

Congratulations to the Redbirds
Brilliant seven innings from Evan MacLane, and a 1-0 Game 3 win over Albuquerque. On to the PCL finals!

Anyone else is following up on this story?
If so, am I on the wrong thread?
Memphis took the first two games from the Sacramento River Cats (Wallace’s new home… sniff sniff)
On Wednesday, we had a fine pitching matchup. Jaime Garcia went 6.2 innings allowing 3 basehits, no runs and striking out 7. The bullpen took care of the rest of the game with Parise earning the save. Our only run, and the only run in the game, was a homerun by David Freese in the 6th inning. Redbirds won the first game 1-0
Yesterday, Adam Ottavino had a fine performance, going six innings and allowing only 2 earned runs. The bullpen took care of the rest of the game and Parise earned the save, again. Hamilton homered for the Redbirds and Freese added an RBI basehit. Redbirds went on to win the second game 3-2
Series will resume this Friday in what could be the clinching game for the Redbirds. Let’s hope they win it and they can start moving on up!
