I don't think Thurston could even crack the Royals lineup

he sure as hell can’t hit as well as Callaspo, so he’s not playing second….I don’t think he’s even equal to Gordon….maybe they’d play him in the outfield. Although Hillman is so bad, there’s no telling what he’d do with him….

Maybe we could trade Thurston for Soria….

it probably makes no sense to knock out the starter.

by gdm426 on Sep 1, 2009 9:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, for what it's worth, I usually do something along these lines...

Paragraph 1: How long you’ve known the person and in what capacity, which usually includes some description of your position/ role.
Middle paragraphs 2-3 (or 2-6 if you’ve got a lot to say): In each paragraph, elaborate on a particular aspect of the person’s work or areas in which you’ve known them. So, for example, for my advisor, I did one paragraph on her teaching, one on her advising and one on her research, as I’d worked with her in all three capacities. It’s easiest to write if you can tell one very specific story in each paragraph.
Last paragraph: Just a wrap-up…

But I’ve only every written rec’s for students or professors — so mostly in academia…
